1,500 Page Immigration Bill to Drop One Day Before Only Hearing?
Breitbart - Big Government ^ | 4-13-2013 | Matthew Boyle

Posted on 04/13/2013 3:00:16 PM PDT by Sir Napsalot

According to an ABC News report, senators from the bipartisan “Gang of Eight” pushing immigration reform are expected to drop their bill, estimated at around 1,500 pages, on Tuesday, mere hours before the only scheduled Senate hearing on the topic.

“A bipartisan group of senators plans to introduce its long-awaited immigration bill on Tuesday, Senate sources confirmed to ABC News,” Jim Avila and Jordan Fabian wrote on Friday. “Four Democrats and four Republicans, known as the 'Gang of Eight,' wrapped up months of hard-fought negotiations this week and will put forth a bill that includes a pathway to citizenship for many of the 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the U.S.”

If the Senators actually do wait until Tuesday to roll out their lengthy proposed overhaul of the U.S. immigration system, that will give members of the Senate Judiciary Committee less than a full day to read it before the only Senate hearing on the topic. Despite ardent pleas from Senate conservatives, including ranking Senate Judiciary Committee member Sen. Chuck Grassley, the committee’s chairman, Sen. Pat Leahy, has only agreed to one hearing on the legislation.

Leahy scheduled that single hearing for Wednesday at 2:30 PM, and the hearing’s sole scheduled witness is Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. Napolitano would have less than a full day to read the bill she is scheduled to testify about.

“Gang of Eight” member Marco Rubio (R-FL) has said he supports multiple hearings and an open and transparent immigration reform process, but his actions do not necessarily back his words. He has not pushed Leahy to force multiple hearings; he appears content with the single hearing Leahy has scheduled on the issue and now appears to be backing down from his demand for multiple hearings.

What can we do?

I ask myself the same thing. It almost seems hopeless anymore. I know that's what the dem's want us to feel so we'll give up. Too many Repub's probably think passing this will help the party in the long run. They couldn't be more wrong. The only thing this will do is further destroy America.

That guy on “Shark Tank”.....the man who had the structure that converts the back of pick up trucks to make it easier to load things.....he appeared on a segment of ABC World News Tonight....the “Made in America” segment.

An American businessman say that segment, and now the gentleman who appeared on “Shark Tank” is happily and successfully manufacturing his product right here in the U.S. of A.

Where have the good men gone? Why did they allow this to come to pass? We hardly have anyone that we can put our faith and trust in. Something has to come to a head pretty soon. Patriotic citizens from all sides must come together to save this country. Obama is set to destroy the free market system and making conditions to where more citizens are dependent on their government. That would take the spirit of any independence away from the people. The democratic party has to be laughing of how easy it has been to manipulate those afraid republicans and their supporters; who they mostly have no regards for whosoever.

Wishful thinking, by the time this is over, you’ll be happy to know someone who can plant a garden. In fact, your life may depend on it.

>>>> What can we do?

Good question. It doesn't seem like our elected representatives ever listen to us. The usual threat of voting them out simply does not work any more.

Tea Party march of 2009 gave the Repub ONE LAST CHANCE to right the ship, and look at what happened. DC Insiders treated it as a good-fortune deliverance that fell into their laps, and proceeded business as usual (if not worse than usual).

To me, it is clear (call me paranoid or a conspiracy nut) -
Some unidentified someone(s) know a portion of Americans will not submit quietly, so they (I'll use plural) purposely herd the general public and push us towards a confrontation, for reasons unknown. And they rather see the open flash point sooner than later.

Well, let’s see how we can stop the Nazis from flooding the country with 30 IQ morons from Central America. I know!

As conservatives, let’s get off our fat, lazy butts and elect a Constitutional sheriff, kinda like Sheriff Arpaio in Arizona. To accomplish that means organizing and electing a leader to run for the county sheriff office in your counties.

It will take great sacrifice, such as not barbecuing ribs every night, putting down the paint brush and stop remodeling your stupid kitchen, and, most of all , stop worshipping your god mammon.

Think of it as for the children, yours specifically.

Give it a shot and see what happens. This is simple: continue remodeling your kitchen and become a slave, or get your a$$ on the line and elect a sheriff who will protect you from the federal fascists.

(Update) Sen. Sessions: Immigration Reform Bill 'Will Not Withstand Public Scrutiny'

“While the Gang has not briefed lawmakers or the judiciary committee about their plan, they have leaked selected details to the press which seem to confirm Senator Schumer’s recent declaration that ‘First, people will be legalized… Then, we will make sure the border is secure,’” Sessions said in the statement.

We need to put pressure on.

I don’t trust the Republicans, but I trust them more than the Democrats.

A Democrat is a Liberal thus they vote like Liberals. They make no pretense otherwise. Republicans in office these days are Back Stabbing Two Faced Sellout Tyrants. They run on one platform and then do the opposite. I trust and respect them much less than Dems for that very reason. I know a DEM is a Liberal. How can anyone trust the Lying Tyrants in the GOP these days?

It's time to Whig the GOP. The sooner the GOP-E is gone the better. If the FEW remaining Conservatives in congress wish to become a new party thats fine otherwise they can join the RATs where they belong. My two senators LaModerate Alexander and See Sawing Porker should become DEMs. Both are Dem Enablers.

'Gang of Eight,' wrapped up months of hard-fought negotiations this week and will put forth a bill that includes a pathway to citizenship for many of the 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the U.S.

Folks, there are NOT 11 million, there are at least 36 million, those are merely guestimates! The last time Amnesty was voted in, there were three times the guestimated amount, and remember most of all, these guys and gals look you right in the face and lie, lie, lie!

Ask, no demand, that with unemployment being at least 8 per cent how dare they even suggest legalizing millions of illegal aliens get to keep their jobs against native-born Americans being unemployed!!!

Bring up the racial aspect to this as well, quote the unemployment figures for black teenagers. Do we agree to legalize illegal Hispanics over American black folk needing jobs?

Sen. Sessions: Immigration Reform Bill 'Will Not Withstand Public Scrutiny'

When it becomes standard practice for Congress to hide their legislation from public scrutiny, it becomes clear that we no longer live in a democratic republic.

Our "representatives" do not represent us, the people. They represent themselves. They are the Ruling Class...and we are their Subjects.

And that's what this Shamnesty is all about. Creating a more favorable group of Subjects, since we tend not to be cooperative.

No fence no amnesty.

Actually, the amnesty known affectionately in politi-speech as the "comprehensive immigration reform" has nothing to do with the "fence" or, more broadly, "border security" and should not be welded or tied together, as some politicians are trying to do to placate the constituents.

Those politicos who say that we need "border security first" before legalizing the illegal aliens are either naive or, much more likely, cynically duplicitous because there is no proper quantitative and qualitative definition for "secure border" that cannot be redefined in due time as "sufficiently secure". Any politician who talks about "border security first" is either too naive to understand what it means or, more likely, lying to you in the hope of punting the "immigration issue" and as such, should be bounced out of office in the next election cycle.

The illegal aliens (who are now widely described as "undocumented workers" or "undocumented immigrants" but better known as "undocumented Democrats") violated the sovereignty of the country by illegally crossing the border or other means and, while it may not be cost-effective to allocate large resources to specifically target them for deportation, it's quite reasonable and relatively easy to make their unwelcome stay in the country very uncomfortable and unlucrative.

In any case, they should not be rewarded by legalizing their status, let alone even contemplate rewarding their illegal actions by insane "path to citizenship" which will only serve as attraction for more people to do same.

The security of the border is the prime responsibility of any country's government - else, there is no "country" to speak of - and therefore should not be a "conditional part" of any bill, deal, reform ("comprehensive" or not) and should not be a part of "immigration policy".

As such, the true reform of the border security should start with the questions to the government agencies responsible for the border and the reasons for how the millions (!) of people were able to violate it with ease and find it profitable to settle in the country, most likely violating other laws (identification, taxation, employment and other fraudulent acts).

Where "in-sourcing" of immigrants (low-, medium- or high-skill) is truly necessary, it should be handled like any other transparent trade or immigration policy, through temporary/time-controlled work visas, with employers justifying the need and expense, and simplified / "standardized" to allow for minimum bureaucracy and corruption.

So the true "comprehensive" immigration reform, instead of rewarding the violators for committing illegal acts, should penalize the agencies responsible for oversight and security, and if the agencies cannot (or more accurately, would not) do their job properly, the solution is simple - cut or reduce the funding of these agencies and use the money to "outsource" some or all of their functions to private security firms and/or organizations which can compete for the contracts based on productivity, cost and other efficiencies.

If Republicans finally start defining the "immigration" issue, rather than meekly defending their "inhumane" positions, they will find a lot of sympathy among their constituents and population overall (who will learn how much it costs and will cost them in the future). They should start by divorcing the "border security" from "immigration" and separating "immigration" from illegal violations, instead of trying to tie them all together - a trap of their own making - which both Democrats and GOP-e RINOs exploit to achieve yet another monstrous "comprehensive reform" that will keep destroying the country and her foundations.
