WaPo reporter: I’m not covering the Gosnell abortionist trial because it’s not really a policy story
Canada Free Press ^ | April 12, 2013 | Dan Calabrese

One person deserves the bulk of the credit for bringing to light the media’s criminal neglect of the Gosnell trial, and that’s liberal columnist Kirsten Powers. Yeah, she is often conservatives’ favorite liberal (although I have a few others), not only because she’s a Christian, but also because she is intellctually honest and refuses to parrot the left-wing company line on stuff like Benghazi or even the treatment of Sarah Palin.

But she’s still a liberal and a strong Obama supporter, so you have to give her credit for calling the media out like this. Today on Facebook, Powers links to a very revealing post by blogger Mollie at the Get Religion blog (whose premise is that the media do not get religion, and boy is that true). Mollie looked specifically at the recent work of Washington Post health policy reporter Sarah Kliff, and noticed an abundance of coverage on stories that advance left-wing narratives - followed by total silence concerning the Gosnell trial. Mollie writes:

"I have critiqued many of her stories on the Susan G. Komen Foundation (she wrote quite a bit about that) and the Sandra Fluke controversy (she wrote quite a bit about that) and the Todd Akin controversy (you know where this is going). In fact, a site search for that reporter — who is named Sarah Kliff — and stories Akin and Fluke and Komen — yields more than 80 hits. Guess how many stories she’s done on this abortionist’s mass murder trial."

"Did you guess zero? You’d be right."

But Mollie didn’t stop there. She contacted Kliff and asked her about the discrepancy, and received this astounding response from Kliff:

"Hi Molly – I cover policy for the Washington Post, not local crime..."

Like it or not, they OWN the media and they can do whatever the heck they want to do.

Yes, we can WHINE ALL DAY, but in the end, they get to control and brainwash the people, unless someone on our side starts BUYING these outlets...and no one seems to want to do that, even though they are very cheap these days.

“Kirsten Powers”? You’d think I’d have at least heard of my “favorite liberal”.

Dr. Kermit Gosnell is the Dr. Joseph Mengele of the Choice camp for whom humans who happened to be on the wrong side of their full term birth were so much flesh to be cut up and efficiently disposed of.

I guess Gosnell was just too sloppy and being sloppy is not news.

I guess the fact that they were "local crime" stories was the reason that the WP had no coverage of the shootings in Aurora and Newtown. </sarcasm>

Not a single Fox News reporter has devoted near the air-time to this as they have that ridiculous Jodi Arias trial. Before you flame me, know that I am NOT a FNC fan; their “conservative” bias is, to me, just a figment of the imagination, as many of their conservative hosts are in fact RINOs. However, I must admit I was a bit disappointed that they gave so little coverage to this story. I guess they have to cover for their pro-choice RINO buddy Tom Ridge, since he allowed this monster to remain in business during his governorship of PA. Pigs....all of them.

Why do we continue to intellectually fence with communists?

They need to be told, you are not covering it because you are a biased leftist democrat. Now we demand that you cover it.

We just let them bitch slap us, and we sit around musing over their explanations.

“That’s not their job, of course. Their job is to cover the news factually...”

Sorry but no. Their job is to help sell copy. Nothing REQUIRES them to be truthful and if they want to lie in every story they write they are TOTALLY PERMITTED to do that.

The only accountability is to their bosses, and their only accountability is to the bottom line. So, if they can still sell copy (a little media lingo), they can say WHATEVER THEY WANT and cover whatever they want.

Hence my first post - if our side is not willing, or capable of buying media outlets, we can whine all we want, but they simply LAUGH AT US.

They are not covering it because it was a black man murdering black women and children. The WaPo only cares about white on black crime. Black on black crime doesn’t fit their agenda.

The killing and mutilation of babies is something they support, as long as nobody takes pictures.

Wrong. It’s because you’re an evil POS propogandist enabling and protecting a “sacred” plank of a perverse and demonic political party.

If the media’s silence about this case doesn’t wake people up, from both sides of opinions, nothing may never could. This is a horrific case. Those dead children deserve justice. The media is protecting this evil man. They cannot allow to directly show the impact of abortion mills via Planned Parenthood; that would open the minds and hearts of women aborting (allowing their babies to be murdered). That also could make more women come to being pro life. The media and their cult of death would be shown as being not only as fraudulent but intentionally allowing poor brown and black children to be killed. Our government is beyond corrupt and moves in a direction over the people with no path to God.

Not a policy story???

Au contraire.
If the pressies covered this they would also have to cover the fact that the boy emperor opposed legislation in Illinois that would have put a stop this this type activity.

I know and so true. I was reading at Yahoo which is mostly filled with left wingers of hate towards any opposing views. There are numerous comments reminding people that Obama supported legislation that would go along with this brutality of murder. To Yahoo's credit, that have left the story up now for days. The story even asks why is the media not covering this? Even some at Yahoo, sees this as murder of children. I've been writing all TV programming and Talk radio sites to ask them to talk about this story.

i agree that this is part of the reason they are not covering it... had it been a white doctor with minority patients, the MSM would have had to choose which they hated more: white on black/ethnic crime, or giving credence to the pro-life view... and some would choose to be outraged by the white on ethnic crime... they would use that as a spring board to somehow promote save abortions for everyone...

The trial creates an unbearable, emotion crushing dilemma for the communists and their media tools as a black abortionist should have been their next presidential candidate; A sure winner.

On page 51 of the grand jury report:

An “Anesthesia for Surgery” form [Appendix B] presented to patients for their signature – and payment – did not identify or describe the drugs to be administered.

However, it suggested:

It will probably be best to pay the extra money and be more comfortable if some of the following conditions are true for you.
  1. The decision to have the procedure is a difficult decision.
  2. Medication is usually necessary for your menstrual cramps.
  3. Your decision has been forced by your parents or partner.
  4. Your family members or friends “don’t like pain.”
Item 3 sure highlights the lie about abortion being a woman's right to choose.
