Wardaddy a lot of out of state posters don't understand some other events that took place recently. One was the governor's declining to expand Obamacare via Medicaid. Another thing is the fact the DEMs lost a very long standing rule of both Tennessee Houses. In other words they are not happy campers. The Press as in newpapers are chomping at the bit to take down the Tennessee GOP which for the most part is managing to run things in a conservative manner all things considered.

People may hate Haslam and Pilot Oil. But there may be more at stake here than media is willing to look into.

John Brennan, new head of the CIA is a muslim so the name means nothing nor does the ethnicity.

True but I don't know of any Muzzies that live in Sequoya Hills an upper class neighborhood in Knoxville. If so they likely work for UT which is walking distance away. I do think if the man were a Muslim his chances of being governor in this state would have been ZERO. Now he possibly could have gotten a City Council seat or even a state senator or REP seat from Memphis with such credentials but not Knoxville. He would have not been mayor.

The then mayor and now our governor does have a tendency to appoint his opposition to seats in his administration. The current DEM mayor of Knoxville worked under Haslam when he was mayor. That is not the same thing as changing ones religion.

The reason I mentioned my belief that he might be a muslim is because this country is slowly being taken over. I’m sure you’ve noticed. I am growing weary of people and elected officials who are PC.

As I said, I don’t know that he’s a muslim but if he isn’t...he sure does like them. BTW, I had the privilege of driving through Tennessee last fall and it is quite beautiful. I had no idea Nashville was so huge! My family came from there back in the day but then I guess most of our ancestors did. Thanks for your replies BTW.

Flying J is one of the few sources left for us selling American oil, not just U.S. refined, but American oil.

Flying J takes it's fuel from the same pipeline as any in my area. When Hurricane Ike hit gas was almost $5 a gallon around Knoxville if you could even find it. All stores were hurting. All had high prices. One store owner I know an Independent told his regular customers that they had better buy gas that night because by morning it was going to be outragious. It happened that fast once the pipeline from the Gulf was shut down. I know Atlanta was hit really hard and took longer to recover from what I remember.

Some larger corporations like PILOT or Flying J could afford to have fuel trucked in likely from either Louisville, KY or Lexington down to Knoxville. With that came a higher price to cover the added delivery cost. Something that made a lot of people angry thinking the gas should have still matched other store prices. Points further south would have really been hurting.

I only know of one gas station in East Tennessee during that time that sold gas cheap and it was in Campbell County, TN The owners of that station likely trucked it in from points north at a loss. Knoxville is the East Tennessee HUB for the pipeline and nothing was coming through. Local government had first dibs in aviable fuel.

I did notice something. Although Pilot Oil owns majority in Flying J they are not the only owners. IOW Haslam's are not full owners of PILOT's acquired FLYING J.

"There was a recent shuffle of higher ups and a new CEO brought in from outside the family."

A business near Pilot headquarters was raided by the FBI and IRS two months ago. Hmmm, connection? There's NOTHING on Service Provider Group's website (https://serviceprovidergroup.com/site-map/) listing who the Principals are for the company. Good luck finding out who owns/operates this company.

They provide: "Payroll Administration Human Resources Management Risk Management Employee Benefits Business and Personal Insurance Employee Leasing Services".
