When Rudy was mayor of NYC, there were no trash can and manhole covers were sealed during New Years Eve celebrations in Time Square.
I suspect that they breathed a huge sigh of relief when the crowds were fading and it appeared the threat was over...I wonder why the terrorists waited until the crowds thinned out to explode the bombs. Makes no sense. Was this for a specific person they wanted to hit? Makes little sense.

Our 2 nephews were there. One to watch his brother who trained so hard to qualify, his first Boston Marathon. I checked the website for the marathon before the blast, he finished at 2 hr. 53 minutes, a little over an hour before the blasts. They are both Ok and hope to make it home today.

I just wish someone with a louder voice would say it. I was listening to Chris Crock last night while driving and was pulling my hair out listen to him say “Can someone please tell me why Obama would not call this terrorism, i don’t understand it?” It is plainly obvious, but I’m just one poster, on one board.
If so, there is someone even now making a youtube video to explain why the bomber(s) were enraged.
But if nobody gets hurt, then Deval Patrick does’t have the opportunity to ride in, save the day, and become popular enough to run for national office.
The professional runners complete the race long before the greatest number (thousands) of hobby and charity runners cross the finish line. When the bombs exploded, a large crowd of runners and well-wishers cheering them on were near the finish line.
This “suspect” will be released when it is determined that he is with the Obama Admin.

Right, and they might not have wanted to hurt the famous runners from other countries. That would get people more incensed about what they did.

tioga: NautiNurse is correct here... in no way were the crowds fading when the bombs blew. The bombs that went off were (unfortunately) timed perfectly for maximum impact. The professional/elite runners were done hours before the "regular people" and charity runners crossed the finish line. The crowd of spectators along the finish line always grows when the latter finish the race.
I attended the Boston Marathon several years ago to cheer on a friend... the biggest crowds at the finish line are always when the non-elite runners come through... thousands of friends and relatives crowd along the finish line to cheer them on. The Marathon is a huge event in Boston each April, and it can be a bit chaotic with the big crowds. Unfortunately I guess that could be called a soft target...
