Is there an anti-terrorism bill, which takes our freedoms and liberties, that has been stalled in the Congress as of late and needed some persuasion to get out of some committee?

Cell phone devices can be used to remotely detonate bombs. I suppose that by shutting down cell phone service, it would also make it difficult for the suspects to coordinate any further activities. But what this teaches them is that in the future, have a fall back plan in case the cell phones get shut off.

“I don’t know, self-centered of them to think they would be a target”

Uh no, just prudent. NY is always a target for terrorists, they need to react quickly when something happens just in case.

Well, it was, just once at least, and in a big way.

On Boston Marathon day, I often have walked around Boston around the time of this year’s explosions. I did not today, because I have given up my Red Sox (Sunday games, holidays) season ticket.

ideal result: bombers turn out to be islamists who entered with explosives thru porous southern border, and found with a weapons caches traceable to fast & furious

I think Mark Fuhrman said it best tonight on Hannity..anyone can make a bomb in their house by buying supplies at Home Depot..

There are tons of plans available on the internet if you know where to look (would suggest TOR if you get into some of those sites). Two of the most popular include The Poor Man's James Bond and The Anarchists Cookbook. Those are actually mild compared to some I've seen that have the instructions for some pretty nasty explosives (surprisingly easy to make). The Norwegan shooter's manifesto also has some pretty detailed instructions included.

If the perp is discovered to be a member of the “Saudi Tea Party” this whole thing will gradually go away in order to preserve the illusion of owebama invincibility.

I look to the Brit press to get the facts right

I would not have much more faith in the accuracy of the British tabloid media than in the domestic mainstream media. Sometimes they'll cover a story the MSM media here won't, but if they are both covering it I don't see any British tabloid accuracy advantage.

Well, jihad bomb design has always been heavy on the maiming. Ball bearings, glass, other stuff mixed in (like arsenic or manure). There is an element of sadism that is wholly lacking in the non-islamic scene.

...One of the first things done was to shut down cell phone service in the area...

Everybody keeps saying this but is it really true? I mean, do we know that for sure or was there just so many calls being made that it clogged the networks?

Is there somebody in a control room somewhere on standby to do this?

In the chaos of the moment is there someone on the ground communicating back to this guy? Who gives the order?

Because it’s an incredibly huge dense city that is the center of just about every aspect of western civilization?

Only two out of seven went off? If the Commies did it, there’ll be price to pay for the comrades responsible! Trial in front of the Central Committee of Workers and Peasants.

Maybe because the cell phone service went down, is the reason the rest of the bombs didn’t go off. That is, if they were being set off by cell phone.

Only two out of seven went off. We can probably rule out al-Qaeda. They are pros. If they had planted seven, all seven would have gone off.

Cellphones, the triggers for the bomb, don’t work very well in a metal trash can. It’s a Faraday cage.

This is what I had on another thread...

Don’t you know... already the dems in congress are proposing two new laws that will ABSOLUTELY keep us safe. The thus stated laws are:

1. A bomb can only have a maximum of one stick of dynamite (no one needs more than that for a terrorist act.)

2. There is to be established a national registry and background checks for ALL bomb makers - only presanctioned terrorist need apply. (and NY state will confiscate all of your bombs if you mellowed out with ANY medicinal substance - excluding, of course, pot.)

That’s all for now....

what is the Govt going to do, prevent people from going to the store to buy nails

They don't prevent you, but they already do investigate. The son of a friend of ours received a visit from the bomb squad after having spent "too much time wandering around" at a big-box hardware store. He had looked in the hardware aisle and purchased PVC pipe.
