Washington (CNN) -- An envelope that tested positive for the deadly poison ricin was intercepted Tuesday afternoon at the U.S. Capitol's off-site mail facility in Washington, congressional and law enforcement sources tell CNN.

While I think the decontamination efforts you describe in the Morgan facility were probably rushed, the implication that DC employees fared any better is misleading.
From my own experience, for 2 days after the letter was opened in Daschle’s office, the Hart building hvac systems continued to pump air throughout the building. There were guys in hazmat suits on one side of a thin piece of yellow crime scene-like tape (I vaguely recall it being “Caution” tape from a construction site) and Senate staffers walking blithely through the halls on the other side of that tape. No effort was made for the first 3 days to insulate Daschle’s office or the mail distribution facilities.
Even after they eventually evacuated the Hart building and made us all get tested, authorities were negligently slow in realizing that the letter had contaminated several Washington USPS sites. Please recall that those who died in DC were postal workers, not Senators or aides.
In summation, there was failure from the top to the bottom on leadership in October 2001.
Perhaps there are still a few good guys left in the FBI. Sure hope so!
I agree, Atlanta has many MFG of these pressure cookers, this may have been shared with local law enforcement.

If I recall correctly, Wicker was one of the pubbies that voted with the demons to go forward with the gun control bill.

I get the impression though that this letter was sent before that vote because the vote was just last week. Time will tell.

Well, the thought crossed my mind that it might have something to do with his vote.
It crossed my mind too but then wondered why my post lady was wearing rubber gloves on Saturday...???(see post above). I think they knew about this letter last week and perhaps warned postal workers to wear gloves. ???? Just wild guessing, but it seems strange in light of this story.
Sure wish we had some Freeper postal workers that could comment. I am going to try and ask my post lady tomorrow if I see her.

It is but I am so frustrated because I was telling everyone today that and NOBODY agrees with me. They say it is absolutely not his fault. It is so repulsive. What he is doing to this country is tragic and nobody sees it but about 100,000 of us on Free Republic.
