Polygamy is already legal for those who can play the legalistic game and afford to pay off the extra wives and illegitimate kids.
Remember, they said it would “never come to this”.

I had a gay polygamist university professor tell me that polygamy was the next step 10 years ago. And they will have a lot of support from certain quarters on this.

If you read the Supreme Court's decision overturning sodomy laws, you could switch homosexual relations and insert polyamorous relations and every argument reads the same. Scalia said this would lead to a slippery slope and he was right.
Actually, didn’t Utah have to make it illegal before they were allowed to join the Union. So my point is if they had gay marriage back in the 1800s in a particular territory, the USA probably would have forced them to make it illegal. So now that the USA is allowing gay marriage, why can’t Utah bring back polygamy? I understood that premise for forcing them to ban polygamy was so they would have a similar marriage laws as the rest of the states at the time. Now that premise has been thrown out the window and the country has adopted perverted views about marriage. I really don’t carefor polygamy, but I find it more normal than gay marriage, not it is much better.
It was only a matter of time.
The Arabs (who have great experience in this subject) claim that the ideal number of wives is 3 ,,, two of them will always side against the third and with you ... I would think this is a good arrangement as in the animal kingdom it is usual for males to be underrepresented and to have multiple partners... I would think that increasing the value of the male partner this way would lead to a more equal partnership.
I am all for it as long as it is restricted to one sex being a single with the other sex being multiple ,, no “multi-M/multi-F” arrangements.

Penalty for horse theft is death by hanging.

It always HAD to "come to this". You cannot stop it. Once you re-define "marriage", then you make it possible to keep re-defining it. I have said on this site many times; if there is nothing special about marriage being between one man and one woman, what is so special about the number two? How does one legally stop polygamy once same-sex marriage is found to be okay?
It is alive and well in the United States. Heck they have a reality show called Sister Wives and has been on about 4 years. Plus there are tons of polygamy marriages in the West.

The definition of marriage is plastic. Just like heterosexual marriage is no better or worse than homosexual marriage, marriage between two consenting adults is not inherently more or less “correct” than marriage among three (or four, or six) consenting adults.
Of course it's "plastic" to a liberal who believes in moral subjectivity. If you redefine it or change its meaning once, what is stopping you from doing it again? Nothing. If marriage can mean anything, it ends up meaning nothing.
Though polygamists are a minority—a tiny minority, in fact—freedom has no value unless it extends to even the smallest and most marginalized groups among us. So let’s fight for marriage equality until it extends to every same-sex couple in the United States—and then let’s keep fighting. We’re not done yet.
