Sen. Manchin Tells Reporters His Expanded Background Checks Amendment Will Fail In The Senate Today
Mediaite ^ | April 17, 2013 | Noah Rothman

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) told reporters on Wednesday that the compromise legislation he crafted with Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) to expand background checks for gun purchasers does not have enough votes to pass the Senate when it comes up for a vote.

[Snip]

Chuck Todd, NBCs Chief White House Correspondent, speculated that, because the Manchin/Toomey compromise could not pass the House, there is no incentive for legislators who may be vulnerable on the issue of guns in 2014 to pass stricter legislation.

And to think I promised Begich’s staff I’d put his sign at the end of my lane and send him some bucks if he was honorable and didn’t vote for the background check bill; killed gun control in the Senate and made ole Big Ears pout. Nobody will know that I sent him a 100 bucks, all my conservative neighbors will see the sign, what to do, what to do???????

Exactly.

Both explicitly exposed.

How many lies does one need to tell to be a liar ?

A lot of apologetics happanin' here in Pennsylvania for Toomey because he is otherwise a conservative ... but I say, maybe no more.

Now that this has been stopped, we can move onto far more important legislation such as banning IEDs and any other bombs people can make up. We need a bomb ban!!!

“What, sir, is the use of militia? It is to prevent the establishment of a standing army, the bane of liberty... Whenever Government means to invade the rights and liberties of the people, they always attempt to destroy the militia, in order to raise an army upon their ruins.”

Bears repeating

This turn of events is especially timely because it gives the Royal Idiot and his Libtard allies
more time to work on their new cause.....banning pressure cookers.....but only for Americans.

LOOKS LIKE THE BIG GUY'S BEEN SUCKING-UP.

God knows where his mouth has been.

No American is safe with this legacy-obsessed clown and his henchmen in the White House.....not Bostonians, not 8-yo kids, not physically fit marathon runners, not marathon observers on the sidelines....nobody is safe....and that includes soldiers on US military bases (Ft Hood) and US embassies abroad (benghazi).

B-U-T THE CLOWN HAS ANOINTED SOME W/ "PROTECTED CLASS" (Democrat voters): some sectors are safe---given safe passage by the WH clown.

(1) SAFE: Ohaha worshippers--Robert Redford’s Terrorist Heroes FrontPageMag.com ^ | Arpil 16, 2013 | Bosch Fawstin / FR Posted by Perseverando “ALL OF IT,” said Robert Redford, when asked if he supported the bombings by The Weather Underground. Redford came out for terrorism on a mainstream morning television show in an interview with democrat-operative-leftist-hack George Stephanopoulos, who was slobbering over Redford’s pro-terrorist movie, The Company You Keep. I drew my illustration of Redford, below, days ago, and I wonder if he’s for the terrorist attack in Boston today. Or maybe he wants to wait and see if it’s leftist terrorists before he decides he’s all for it. Below is a list of what Robert Redford was for, via Sean Hannity on FOX News. The Weather Underground’s history of terrorism consisted of: 1970: SFPD Bombing (1 Killed) 1970: NYPD Bombing (7 Hurt) 1970: NYC Explosion (3 Killed) 1971-72: Capital & Pentagon Attacked 1981: Armed Robbery (3 Killed)

(2) SAFE: Prostrate politicians, kneeling in oberisance all puckered up, sucking up to Ohaha...especially if they feed the legacy obsession.......particularly if they push for "immigration reform" which puts Americans in danger.

(3) SAFE: The Muslim Brotherhood got couple billion tax dollars from Ohaha to carry out their hateful jihad against America.

(4) SAFE--- Mexican cartels deep inside US - spreading into non-border states CHICAGO (AP) — Mexican drug cartels whose operatives once rarely ventured beyond the US border are dispatching some of their most trusted agents to live and work deep inside the United States — an emboldened presence that experts believe is meant to tighten their grip on the world's most lucrative narcotics market and maximize profits. If left unchecked, authorities say, the cartels' move into the American interior could render the syndicates harder than ever to dislodge and pave the way for them to expand into other criminal enterprises such as prostitution, kidnapping-and-extortion rackets and money laundering.

Some cartels even have Mexican operatives fill out job applications before being dispatched to the US, Riley added. In Mexico, the cartels are known for a staggering number of killings — more than 50,000, according to one tally. Beheadings are sometimes a signature. So far, cartels don't appear to be directly responsible for large numbers of slayings in the United States, though the Texas Department of Public Safety reported 22 killings and five kidnappings in Texas at the hands of Mexican cartels from 2010 through mid- 2011. Still, police worry that increased cartel activity could fuel heightened violence.--SNIP--

In Chicago, the police commander who oversees narcotics investigations, James O'Grady, said street-gang disputes over turf account for most of the city's uptick in murders last year, when slayings topped 500 for the first time since 2008. Riley's assessment is stark: He argues that the cartels should be seen as an underlying cause of Chicago's disturbingly high murder rate. "They are the puppeteers," he said. "Maybe the shooter didn't know and maybe the victim didn't know that. But if you follow it down the line, the cartels are ultimately responsible." (NY POST EXCERPT)

duh. i don't care what side of the issue you're on, show a spine and vote. the only thing these people care about is re-election, not the constitution, the country or its people.

Amen. His little buddy, too.

Still kind of hard to believe that these are the types that roam the halls of Congress, that get to pass laws that us little people have to follow. Even harder to believe that so many are so successful, financially.

When you publicly state that your bill wouldn’t stop anything but you draft it and present it anyway, I think that pretty much tells the world that you are a moron.

Keep the sentries on station. This is only a temporary set back for these asshats. No doubt they are or have been planning something else in dark of night which we will find more, uh................”palatable”. I think not! No ground can be given to these clowns led by their ring master hairy screed.

I think you’re being too kind. I would tend to use words like “mythical beast” and “imaginary beast”, “mythical beast”, and “fraudulent beast”.

And, of course, the press will only highlight that not enough Republicans voted for the measure, totally omitting that the Democrats control the Senate by a decent majority. Watch. First words after saying it failed will start with “Republicans”.

Can’t stand it anymore. Feel powerless to do anything!

"What, sir, is the use of militia? It is to prevent the establishment of a standing army, the bane of liberty...

Liberals continually try to pretend that the National Guard is the Militia, even though it is bought and paid for by the Federal Government and is part of their "standing army".

The Proof: the regularly scheduled rotations to Iraq, Afghanistan, etc., right along with the other military units.

There was no "call up of the militia".

The Cameras have moved up to Boston.

Unlike Fort Hood and Benghazi, this affected 'regular' people here at home (not on a military base, not overseas) and at an event where they probably didn't give being attacked/maimed/killed a second thought. The illusion of 'safety' has been shattered (as it was on 9-11) and those bad, bad feelings are back. A harsh reminder "All the king's horses and all the king's men" can't keep us safe .... which leads to more and more folks coming to the realization they must protect themselves.

the idea that he was going to be reelected in 2016 in PA with Hillary on the ballot in a Presidential year always struck me as fanciful. and that was before this.

If Sestak runs in a rematch, I bet he wins by a huge margin.

Good, he threw away a lifetime of A rating's from the NRA for nothing. Unfortunately, having kept his pro-gun mask on until after the November election, we in West Virginia can't do anything to get rid of him until 2018....
