'Progressive' Ad Rips Auto Insurance 'Rate Suckers'—So How About Health Insurance?
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

In the health-care insurance debate, one of the mantras of the left is to condemn those evil, greedy insurance companies that would charge higher rates to people with "pre-existing conditions."

But in a commercial aired on last night's Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC, there was "Progressive Insurance," whose chairman Peter Lewis is a huge donor to liberal causes including Moveon.org, condemning as "rate suckers" people with bad driving records who drive up good drivers' rates!

Geez....Lewis, while a rabid egg-sucking dog Democrat, actually goes against the grain here in “help for the masses”.....perhaps his drive for personal greed and wealth outweighs his socialist largess?

In any case, I’d drive without insurance (like Jose from Mexico) if Progressive was the only coverage available....

The name says it all “Progressive” is the code word for “socialism”

It is amazing how they use the capitalist system to make millions, so they can destroy it.

“The name says it all “Progressive” is the code word for “socialism””

What bites is how few conservatives even know that...and how many are sending Progressive their money, just to see it thrown back in their face by the Democrats.

Even if you tell them the above, they don’t believe you...just as later in the day they drive to their “wonderful” public school to pick up their children.

first off, it is hard to fathom socialist billionaires like this clown and Soros and Buffett...what’s with that???

that being said, NO DEVICES will be attached to my car to spy on my driving style.

of course the current modern car is loaded with spy technology right out of the showroom. but I will not voluntarily hook any up....

I had a windshield repair a couple months ago and when discussing insurance companies, the service writer said there’s one out there that’s pretty bad, won’t let them use new parts or genuine OEM parts. It’s Progressive.

Big Brother will not come to rule this nation by force. The citizens will BEG for surveillance of their neighbors and themselves. For “safety” from each other and lower taxes (more bread).

Anyone that has doubts will be considered mentally ill, placed on happy pills, disarmed and tracked 24/7. Their own friends/family will out them for “their own good”.

I thought that in years past, Progressive's market niche was selling to bad drivers. (And charging them a lot for it!) So this is an interesting approach. Although not at all surprising for a lib.

(I wouldn't buy insurance from them just because their commercials are so annoying.)

I had a windshield repair a couple months ago and when discussing insurance companies, the service writer said there’s one out there that’s pretty bad, won’t let them use new parts or genuine OEM parts. It’s Progressive.

I dropped them after they tried to pull this crap with me on my 2-year-old car. They authorized the shop to repair and replace with non-OEM parts without notifying me of the option to go with OEM at my cost (against Idaho law at the time I lived there). The work looked like crap and I refused to pay (my deductible was to be paid directly to the shop - with Progressive paying the rest of the bill). When they explained they were authorized to use non-OEM parts, I asked them why they didn't ask if I wanted to use OEM parts at my cost. They said they didn't have to. After a quick look on-line, and a brief discussion with the Idaho Insurance Commission, and the dyke rep's boss, my car was completely re-done with OEM parts at the original price quoted for the non-OEM parts.

I didn't know about the CEO's leanings at the time. This was after dropping State Farm, a company I'd been with for 16 years. State Farm raised my rates twice in a row with no accidents/claims on my part. The first time I asked, the reasoning was that national theft rates for my car were up - when I asked about local rates, they said that didn't matter. The next time they raised the rates, they said it was due to local uninsured/underinsured driver rates going up. When I asked about national rates, they said it didn't matter. So I dropped them.
