A distasteful aspect of Obamas personality WRT gun laws...provides insight into why bipartisan success eludes him. Manchin-Toomey didnt pass because a fearful Sen Reid insisted amendments needed 60 votes.....M/T mustered but 54. Obama charged his opponents willfully lied to block common-sense gun reform. He has a hard time believing there can be honest disagreement with him.....so he impugns opponents in public. On immigration, Dems want a deal, so Obama's been kept out. On guns, hes front and center. Seems to make a difference.

I wish he’d get front and center behind the immigration bill.
Heh—my thoughs precisely.
He’s a punk.
If the truth about the treasonous impostor ever came out, he'd probably be front and center of a squad of marines...

To cite at least one equally nefarious example, he learned nothing from Lyndon Johnson who was the most successful president at getting his agenda through Congress (with lasting terrible result at "transforming America").
Johnson said he laid his success with Congress (and prior to that as Senate Majority Leader) at never claiming his opponents acted in bad faith. He said his success, dubious as it seems today, was in "never saying" his political opponents "were no good," or "couldn't read and write."
Instead, he always, always proceeded on the presumption his opponents believed they were right, and had arrived at their conclusions in good faith.
Obama, like so many liberals (most of whom disown Johnson, their most successful champion of monolithic, ever-growing government) can't so much as allow another "side" to be acting in good faith as accept another "side" even to exist.
Politicians who are unaware of their own liabilities are in a terminal state, and must eventually fail. That's why ugly people can make it in politics, if they understand that they are ugly.
