Calling a Spade a Spade in Boston
Pajamas Media ^ | 4/19/13 | Roger Kimball

One of the curious, but also most predictable, responses to the Boston Marathon bombings from the Left has been the fervent expression — amounting nearly to a prayer — that the perpetrator or perpetrators of this act of mass murder be “homegrown,” preferably white, male, Christian, and conservative.

Why? Why does the Left prefer to have its terrorism served up by Timothy McVeigh rather than Durka Durka Mohammed Jihad? It’s an interesting question. That the Left exhibits this prejudice is, like Falstaff’s dishonesty, “gross as a mountain, open, palpable.”

David Sirota, writing at Salon, gives almost comic expression to the genre in an essay with the really special title “Let’s hope the Boston Marathon bomber is a white American.” Why does Mr. Sirota wish that the Boston murderer of 8-year-old boys be a white American? Because a spectral quality called “white male privilege” operates insidiously behind the scenes. If Timmy McVeigh blows up a government building, says Mr. Sirota, only he is blamed. If Mohammed does it, Muslims are likely to be “collectively slandered and/or targeted with surveillance or profiling (or worse).”

What do you think of that argument? I think it’s hooey. For one thing, categories like “white male privilege” are a sort of Leftist version of phlogiston: hypothetical explanatory devices that have the unfortunate attribute of not actually existing. For another, there’s plenty of “collective slander” of Christian fundamentalists (you know, those “bitter” small-towners who “cling to guns or religion”) going around. A full anatomy of David Sirota’s hope for a great white villain would fill many pages. What I want to note at the moment, however, is how consonant it is with President Obama’s often noted reluctance to employ what Andrew McCarthy calls the “T-word” when commenting on episodes of mayhem and murder.

We have primary elections here in 11 days. We’ll see if the voters call a spade a spade and deny a militant marxist like Ed Markey the democratic nomination.

And on the republican side, a conservative prosecutor like Mike Sullivan will be looking pretty good to the people of MA, especially with his experience after 9/11.

What do you think of that argument? I think it’s hooey. Yes, it is demonic hooey. The father of lies is busy lining up his minions to deal viciously and murderously with Christians in these end times.

McVeigh was one of their own. He was not a Christian Conservative and his dad was a union goon. Like father, like son. Plus there's the well-documented between McVeigh, Nichols and muzzies is explained in a number of threads here on Free Republic.

Why does the Left prefer to have its terrorism served up by Timothy McVeigh... while doing acrobatic backflips to avoid John Doe #2.

There is no difference since they both serve as Satan's servants.

They had an FBI profiler on and the talking heads all were commenting that this had nothing to do with Islam. Then this FBI jackass says it really doesn’t matter, then just out of nowhere mentions several right wing organizations.

To be accurate, he didn’t accuse any of these organizations but why in the world did he immediately run off these supposedly right wing extremist groups? It sounds like these guys have been so used to accusing right wingers of everything it is like Pavlov’s dog. Say the word “terrorist” and they immediately think “blame conservatives”.

If a terrorist attack is perpetrated by a Muslim we must look to root causes and legitimate grievances and ask what we can do so as not to anger Muslims.

If a terrorist attack is perpetrated by a right-winger we must ask ourselves if the public airways can continue to be used by zealots to drum up hate against the government and ask right wing politicians and commentators to ‘tone down’ the rhetoric.

If a terrorist attack is perpetrated by a left-winger they must be given a job as a teacher at a University.

What to do? The president hasn’t quite figured that one out. But it’s not only his problem. It’s also very much our problem. Why? Because we, we Westerners, we infidels, we Jews and Christians are the target.

But .... if they ..... continue to turn a blind eye to the nature and extent of this murderous ideology, what then?

Not to worry. The president and his family now have Secret Service protection for life. The important people will be all right.

It’s mostly folks like Martin Richard, age 8, who will have to worry. He was blown to bits, and his mother and sister were maimed by the Boston bomber ...

“categories like “white male privilege” are a sort of Leftist version of phlogiston: hypothetical explanatory devices that have the unfortunate attribute of not actually existing.”

Make that a double. I’m going to memorize this one as a response to any lib using “white privilege” in a serious way.

I forgot to add: Hear the word “terrorist” then immediately the first thing they do is “defend Islam”.

Not that the SOB deserved it, but it was a bit odd how anti-death penalty activists were silent when Tim McVeigh was put on death row, not to mention how he was fast-tracked to his ultimate execution. Other than a few Jesuits outside the prison on the day of his execution doing a lackluster rendition of Jesus carrying the cross, there were no meaningful protests or appeals to commute his sentence. Isn’t that strange?

You know that. I know that. But nearly everyone else in the country (that have actually heard of him), McVeigh is the poster boy for “right wing domestic terrorist”. The media did their job well on that one.
