The IRS will shut down entirely for five days this year in order to try to meet its slimmed-down budget under the sequesters, a labor union that represents Treasury Department employees said on Friday. The IRS will close its doors on May 24, June 14, July 5, July 22 and Aug. 30, and employees are being told there could be two other days as well. “On those days all public operations of the IRS will be shut down, leaving taxpayers without access to information and assistance from frontline workers,” the National Treasury Employees Union said.

What is it that they were able to determine about those days in particular that would “make it hurt” the most to us?
i’d like a partial refund for those days.

They look close to holidays. My guess is these are high volume sick days. Now the average employee won’t need to use up sick days for an extra long holiday weekend.
Of course the only people at the IRS getting cut will be the ones that process refunds.
How about forever. Get a flat tax.
This is not about the sequester, its about an extra day off with pay:
FRIDAY, May 24: Federal Holiday is Monday May 27 (Memorial Day) (4 day week-end)
FRIDAY, June 14: Flag Day (3 day week-end)
FRIDAY, July 5 Thursday July 4th Federal Holiday (4-day week-end)
MONDAY, July 22 (3 day week-end)
FRIDAY, Aug. 30: Monday September 2, Labor Day and Federal Holiday (4 day Week-end)
I see all those dates are Fridays. Gives them a 3 day weekend

Wow, hard to believe a cut in the amount of an increase could cause so many headaches.
Imagine if they really cut the budget.
Most companies and state agencies do such shutdowns a day a week, not a full week. Doing this for a full week gives them a week of unemployment benefits.
