FULL TITLE: Basketball star Brittney Griner comes out as a lesbian and reveals how she was 'picked on for being different'

Brittney Griner, the number one pick in the WNBA draft on Monday, yesterday acknowledged that she is gay and talked about being bullied while growing up.

The 6-foot-8 basketball star, selected by the Phoenix Mercury after an astounding four-career at Baylor, openly discussed her sexuality with Sports Illustrated. When asked about why more female athletes were out as opposed to men, Griner replied: 'I really couldn't give an answer on why that's so different. Being one that's out, it's just being who you are.'

“Well Jim, I thought it was simply too vanilla you know? So I added a couple points of compression and now I just feel those good vibrations all over! Oh and of course I have to tell you about my work with oppressed gay kids. You know Jim, I was bullied a lot when I came to NASCAR but since President Obama outlawed hetrosexual bigots, I feel FABULOUS!!!:

Griner is Exhibit A that homosexuality born trait, not a choice (at least for some). She is clearly a mix of male and female genes. She is 6’ 8”, built like a man with manly features. She has a male voice and somewhat of a male hairline. She is slim like a woman and has women’s parts. There was zero doubt in my mind she was lesbian from the first time I saw her.

I guess you also argue that pedophilia (is a) born trait too.

Polygamists? Born that way, huh?

LOL! I guess I'm not the only Maya Angelou fan out there. I've read some pretty good poetry in the past ... I'm not sure what I'd call Miss (or Mrs) Angelou's scribblings. To each his own, I guess...

“As far as I know, non-lesbians are not permitted to play women’s basketball.”

You never had any daughters who wanted to play basketball??

Basketball is a very honorable sport for high school girls to play and to then to go on to college and play.

I read “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” or as much of it as I could stomach, when it first came out.

Gave a new meaning to the word “swill”.

So you’re saying that jokes at the expense of the homosexual lobby are verboten?

Lesbian women’s basketball star. Why is this considered news? Now if she came out as straight, it would be worthy of above the fold headlines? A dyke? SOP.

S/he has an adam’s apple. Have you hear he/r talk? I’m not surprised at all that s/he likes girls. Seems perfectly natural in this case.

S/he is probably male.

S/he turned down an invitation to play for the women’s basketball in the last Olympics on some fluffy excuse — I think it was summer school or the like.

Most likely knew a genetic test would be required.

Didn't stop this South African male runner from competing as a female in London.

HUH? She “had to come out” for anyone to know?

In this case if she said she was straight, THAT would have been “coming out.”

No.
There are a lot of great gals that play basketball that go on to marry great guys and become moms and wives. Those types shouldn’t be lumped in with the others.

My school; Iowa State; has the second largest attendance for woman’s BB in the country.
It is a family atmosphere for the games.
The players there ARE NOT like Brittney Griner. I know a few of them.....

Y

I wasn’t lumping anybody in other than actual homosexuals, who are first and foremost bullies.

Here in redneckville during the 70s when people came out as gay or lesbian, for the most part none of us cared. They were still the same people and as far as I know their coming out didn’t end any friendships. One big difference between then and now, those who came out then weren’t upset that nobody cared, now they’re almost violent about it.
