Inquiry Shifts to Suspect’s Russian Trip [FBI never followed up on Tamerlan once he returned ]

With one suspect dead and the other captured and lying grievously wounded in a hospital, the investigation into the Boston Marathon bombings turned on Saturday to questions about the men’s motives, and to the significance of an overseas trip one of them took last year.

Federal investigators are hurrying to review a visit that one of the suspected bombers made to Chechnya and Dagestan, predominantly Muslim republics in the north Caucasus region of Russia. Both have active militant separatist movements. Members of Congress expressed concern about the F.B.I.’s handling of a request from Russia before the trip to examine the man’s possible links to extremist groups in the region.

The significance of the trip was magnified late Friday when the F.B.I. disclosed in a statement that in 2011 “a foreign government” — now acknowledged by officials to be Russia — asked for information about Tamerlan.

But the F.B.I. never followed up on Tamerlan once he returned, a senior law enforcement official acknowledged on Saturday, adding that its investigation did not turn up anything and it did not have the legal authority to keep tabs on him. Investigators are now scrambling to review that trip, and learn about any extremists who might have influenced, trained or directed Tamerlan while he was there.

We have to expect this with a government that cares for muslims more than it’s own people. Zero, I’m sure, has had directives sent to the FBI to go easy on his brother mudslimes.

Hopefully their message will continue to spread quickly throughout our military and law enforcement. Everyone needs to understand that they will not be told the complete truth(or any of it), if they are ever used to confiscate guns, or in some other unconstitutional manner. It's not going to be a situation as black and white as some imagine. Most of those involved will believe they are doing the right thing. Otherwise they wouldn't be doing it.

The acceptance of the police state in Boston by many on the right is worrisome. How many Oath Keepers were involved in those actions? What would have happened if someone didn't leave their home, and didn't consent to a warrantless search of their property? It's a horrible precedent to accept regardless of it's intent, but that's exactly what we are doing.

Apparently the FBI and CIA never followed up on John Kerry’s two or three trips to met the enemy No. Vietnamese and Viet Cong in Paris to see if he had given aid and comfort to the enemy.

Or did they? That would be the most prized FBI report in modern history. THe same for any CIA report.

This is what must be explored in Executive Session congressional hearings.

No more coverups. Too many Americans are dying because of our near total intelligence failures from Afghanistan, Iraq to Benghazi, and now Boston, Massachusetts.

Heads must roll until our intelligence agencies (FBI) are back to the much more competent levels of the J. Edgard Hoover years. As for the CIA, it needs a complete overhaul.

With the criminal Brennan running CIA, there won’t be any ‘fumigating’ any time soon. Things are fixin’ to get much worse as factions in the government rip at each other.

Now, if he had done something really radical, like attend a Tea Party rally, well, he'd have a big fat dossier kept.

This should probably have its own thread, just to remind people how incompetent Obama and his minions are.

This explains why the Obama loving CNN reports such idiocy such as Right Wing Extremists to Blame for Explosions.

Gee, that sounds like the same line of reasoning that the Clinton crime family used to excuse their failure to take Bin Laden into custody.

Well, that would be the ATF’s jurisdiction since they have a lot of experience at this kind of stuff.

The FBI was way to busy throwing the book at some bumpkins in North Georgia that had a conversation with each other once about possibly fighting the gubmint.
