Marco Rubio’s press secretary likens non-citizen permanent residency to slavery
Twitchy ^ | Monday April 22, 2013

Alex Conant @AlexConant: "We haven't had a cohort of people living permanently in US without full rights of citizenship since slavery".

Mind you, he isn’t talking only about illegal immigrants. He’s talking about any non-citizen who lives in this country permanently, including millions of Green Card holders.

And by implication:

Conn Carroll @conncarroll: For those of you keeping score at home, Rubio spokesman @AlexConant just compared all Schumer-Rubio opponents to slave owners

If this is Team Rubio’s strategy for winning over conservatives, good luck with that.

Christie, if the amnesty bill goes thru it won’t matter who the Pubs run.

There will never be another Pub president or legislative body. Not that the Pubs are all that great.

If this happens, I mourn the loss of our country.

As are we all.

Comnsider that it took us since 88 to fall this far. What makes anyone think Superman will hit the scene and fix it with his Politi-Ray vision in 5 seconds?

Apathy? Absolutely a problem. But the bigger IMO is that everyone believes in Magic Bullets. What they need to believe in is themselves, buck the hell up and understand that only idiots fote for the opposite of what they claim they want.

I will scream this till I can’t. If people insist on voting for closet Democrats like Rubio who are obvious liberals, they need to shut up when they get Amnesty or Gun control or abortion or gay marriage. Because they have the chance to vote elsewhere of their free will and do not.

And if anyone can show that logic to be incorrect, they should do so. To date, no one has.

I haven’t trusted him since he hit the big time, my basic position is republicans are all part of the big government New World Order, and never go weak at the knees as some report in an attempt to mislead the rubes, they never go weak in the knees because they actually support the same agenda.

Rubio isn’t selling out to anyone, it is what he has always believed,

100% correct!. I have a sixth sense for quickly sensing if a person has rabid Statism in their core DNA.

I remember clearly within the first days after his election Rubio was speaking, rambling on. During that speech he said something that instantly made me realize this guy was a complete fraud.

He spoke about "illegals" (not using the word). There was one sentence that revealed his views to the world contradicting the very essence of what it means to be a Conservative. Ever since that speech I get sick when Radio hosts and leaders call him a "wonderful" Conservative. Nothing could be further from the truth.

All one has to do is view the youtubes of his post election speeches and clearly catch the line.

What I find interesting is that the Dems found Superman with a magic bullet with Obamster. But we can’t seem to do the same.

We support people like Paul, Rubio and Toomey thinking we are doing a good thing.

Your logic is not incorrect in the least. But we are trapped.

I don’t think it’s a case that they found Superman really. All the lib groups have contrary interests...see Muslims and WyminZ rights factions. But they ALL decided to abandon a few of their principles for their ‘greater good’, and coalesced around the village idiot who promises all things to all people and in the end, provides them with what? They are all pissed at him but they have a fantasy that some day he;ll distribute their ration of Soma....real soon now.

One good wedge and that coalition of coalitions explodes like a nuke. But the current GOP tries to prevent that instead of capitalizing on it and so is just another willing partner.

Here on the supposed right, we do the SAME DAMN THING. Romney was a prime example. We abandoned principle just like the dems, so that we could form a winning coalition just like the dems, all with competing interests just like the dems, expecting ours were the most important just like the dems, to elect the village idiot just like the dems and we wait for our own Soma from the GOP just like the dems...real soon now.

Instead of getting off the Jeep to Guyana and our appointment with the Kool Aid stand, we rent a helicopter to get there faster.

People need to admit that they made a huge mistake. If to no one but themselves, and STOP DOING THE SAME STUPID THINGS that got them where they are.

Why did he have to play the ‘conservative’ role? Why didn’t he just start out as a dem in the first place? He’s going to lose all conservative votes with this immigration nonsense.

I have a relative by marriage whose family came from Europe when he was five, maybe 60 years ago. He said his family was told that if they asked for welfare, they would have been deported.

And now look where we are.

AMNESTY TWO ISSUES NEVER TOUCHED

ACTIVE FR’S IF YOU SEE ANY CREDITABLE REPORTS OF PROBLEMS AMERICAN CITIZENS ARE HAVING WHILE LIVING IN MEXICO PLEASE POST THEM.....

(1) When is the treatment of American citizens in Mexico and their rights vs US treatment of Mexicans going to be an issue when we discuss amnesty ?

This is a question: Should Mexican citizens when in the US be given the same rights American citizens are given while in Mexico? This has yet to appear on any US legislator’s questionaire from either chamber....ASK YOUR FEDERAL LEGISLATORS WHY IT HASN’T

(2) What makes it necessary for US to subjugate our sovereignty because of available cheap labor ? While the Godless Demo-Coms socialists encourage population control and abortion . Then complain the US is not reproducing enough citizens to replace its aging retiring workforce. But rely on (as the Romans did) on foreigners (barbarians) .to keep their welfare ponzie schemes supplied with tax money and keep the system working..

Ever hear of reciprocal aggrements ? These are arranged to protect the rights of American citizens working or living in other countries.

Why is it when it comes to citizens of other countries we are required to offer them the same privledges as we do to US citizens? But when it comes to US citizens who get in trouble or attempt to do business in other countries they do not get the same treatment their citizens get.

Americans can’t own coast land in Mexico. And get no title to it elsewhere. If they run out of cash they’ll get unceremoniously sent back or put in jail untill some relative comes up with the “fresh”. That’s just for starters as for granting them voting privledges yea let’s give Mexican citizens that right when American citizens vote in their elections .

Lincoln would be proud.

Uh, Lincoln DID want to "colonize," i.e, deport freed slaves, to either Liberia or Central America.

Slavery is when you work hard and someone else reaps the reward.

I work hard and pay taxes. Illegals show up and collect welfare and benefits. That makes me the slave.

And I’m sick and tired of slavery.

Guys, he is right. I grew up in an area with a lot of packing plants. There is one that continually flies in Indians from South America, bunks them in a company shanty town (which doesn’t meet the Nebraska fire code), pays them less than minimum wage, denies them workers comp when (not if) they get hurt, and then fires them en masse when enough learn English or Spanish and start asking questions.

Go take a look at the migrant worker companies. Some of their conditions are much worse.

These are things I have seen with my own eyes. Not on the news.

However Rubio is dead wrong. Amnesty won’t help these people, the companies that hire them will just dump them and go find more. If you really want to stop illegal immigrants, start arresting the plant managers, accountants, executives, etc that are hiring them. In the Midwest, the language on the kill floor of most packing plants is Spanish or an Indian dialect (a few plants with Russian and Chechan). We see this, yet no one seems to do anything about the root cause.

Now the GOP and the Dems will never do that. They want the cheap labor, and don’t really care about the workers. Again , I saw this myself. My home town of Fremont, Nebraska tried to make it illegal to rent a house or apartment to illegal aliens. The local GOP machine swung into action, along with the ACLU, the Catholic church, and Hormel corporation, to kill it. Seems the biggest renter to illegals was Hormel, and they didn’t want the profits to stop.

If Rubio is serious about helping these people out, he needs to start attacking the employers. Amnesty will only make those conditions worse. If the employers do really need those workers, then they need to pay them the same wage and benefit package that they are required by law to do for native citizens. Now that means that you will pay more for meat and veggies, but it will also end this mess.

Of course, I expect many to call me a liar. But I have seen it. I have seen a room with over 30 people living in it with locks on the outside and one bathroom. I have seen the buses come in with people that can’t speak the language, or Spanish, and then work for dollars a day. This problem will continue to you start hitting the companies that make it a policy to hire illegal aliens.
