Report: Suspects had no gun licenses
The Hill ^ | 04/21/13 | Mike Lillis

The two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings were not licensed to have the firearms they used in several shootouts with police on Friday, Reuters reported Sunday night.

The news that the suspects were not authorized to own firearms will likely add fuel to calls for tougher gun laws – an issue that was put on the back-burner last week after the Senate blocked the central elements of a gun-control package backed by President Obama.

Because Massachusetts state law bars handgun ownership for those younger than 21, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, age 26, was the only brother who could have obtained a license from the town of Cambridge, Mass., where he lived. But he didn't take that step, Dan Riviello, spokesman for the Cambridge Police Department, told Reuters.

But, MA has a gun registry and bans hi cap mags. How could they have gotten them. Libs said these laws stop crime.

More gun laws will not stop terrorists and everyday criminals from getting guns, but they will make law-abiding people in Watertown or other places like it even more defenseless than they currently are.

Were they properly licensed and permitted to possess, transport and use explosives?

We just need to post more signs. No crime allowed with unlicensed guns.

No. No. No. You all are focused on the wrong things!!!

Here is what must be done: Outlaw sales of pressure cookers, require background checks for BB sales, and create a national database to purchase nails. This will keep us safe.

With a record of conviction for Domestic Violence, the older bomber could not have passed the background check for a pistol permit, nor could he have passed the background check to buy any firearm.

That’s just retarded—the fact that even with Massachusetts’s byzantine gun registration laws they were able to obtain guns should be an argument *against* passing stricter gun laws, since obviously criminals always will be able to get their hands on guns and it is law-abiding citizens who are left defenseless. Betcha many Boston suburbanite liberals wished they had a weapon when that terrorist scumbag was on the loose looking for a place to hide.

I only know one other Boston suburbanite (inside 128/95) besides myself that has a CCW permit.

So where did the guns they used come from?
How did they have access to guns?

Guns? What GUNS? Since Friday, I’ve been expecting some statement of weaps collected at the two firefight scenes but nada...zip...zilch. Yet news reports are improving, today there was brief mention of rounds expended Friday morning.
Plus authorities have made no hint as to a source of income for these guys.

The news that the suspects were not authorized to own firearms . . .

What is meant by, "authorized"?? This doesn't pass the smell test.

The only thing being proved here is we need tougher laws against Muslims getting into this country.

RE> Every law discussed by this President and Congress would have done nothing to prevent the Boston bombing.

Is there ANY law that could have prevented it?

Well, since the perps were Muslims terrorists ... and Muslims terrorists seem to be able to get into this country ... and if it saves just 1 life ... ... ...

I just had to book mark this, and give it a LIKE!, as in, Interesting Take! Thanks.

That would require ballistic finger printing of nail making machinery. But nails can be altered to appear to be from different machines. This will cost billions of tax dollars and be totally useless, so I therefore believe it to be a GREAT idea for DiFi to get right on top of.

The MSM is still eagerly awaiting a mass shooting by a legal gun owner, so they can slime all gun owners
