Parents plan to protest the Readington Middle School principal's decision to the school board Tuesday night.
Teen girls will not be permitted to wear strapless dresses to Readington Middle School's eighth grade dance because the principal thinks it would distract boys, according to an upset parent.

When older and have children they're naturally feeling protective of their daughters and no doubt remembering how their own minds worked at that age.
I suppose I am fortunate that my daughters are now in their 20’s and never seemed to gravitate towards the slutty clothing while in high-school.
:::hair standing on end::::
My son’s Senior Prom was last weekend. His date wore a pretty strapless dress. BUT there was one girl there who was walking and taking very small baby steps because her dress was so short it barely covered her butt and crotch. And all I could think was “your mom let you leave the house looking like that?”
I think parents ought to stop trying to be their kids friend and start being parents! Sad that I side with the school on this.
Huge, guys ~ like those women at the Pschor Brau Haus in Munchen ~ well, maybe even moreso!
That was 8th grade.
That's the result of a 43% German origin student body.
My daughter usually just wears jeans and t-shirts to school. Denim capris or shorts when the weather is warmer. She’s not my girly-girl, although she can clean up nicely if forced to ;).
I have an almost 9 year old who is very girly and enjoys dressing up. Fortunately she is modest and still manages to look very cute anyway. She made her First Communion on Sunday, and thankfully all the girls wore nice dresses that were very appropriate, with veils to boot.
Amen! A little modesty is what this sex crazed culture needs.
Not any middle schooler I knew. Back then, we were still wearing full skirts with a number of petticoats under them, flats, etc. We never wore strapless until junior or high school. Parents would have been outraged otherwise. When I was in college, we were not allowed to wear pants! I can still remember feeling it was nuts to dress like church to go to a cotton picking football game. After I got out, I decided never again would I dress that way for a game. I dress decently but not like that! One thing is very vivid in my memory. The day a bunch of high schoolers to wear full skirts with hoops under them. That lasted one day. I remember boys laughing when we sat down with those things flying up in our faces. LOL. Those were the days. Another thing we tried wearing flip flops to school with those things letting everyone on the floor know we were coming. What memories!
Sorry that should have been a jr or senior in high school.
You can’t see the difference? I hope you’re kidding.
Who’s got the unsee button?
Eighth grade. Good for the principal.
No middle school girl of mine is going to any dance until she finishes school and moves out. That’s final.
AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!@!@!
My eyes! the burn!
It is such parents that protest against modesty that need to be exposed.
I thought that was the idea
A school person worrying about decorum? About inappropriate dress and behavior? Wow.
Meanwhile, the parents are outraged. So what? Wear a better dress.
