Best man fatally stabs bride: Jonathan Broyhill charged in Hahn attack

A report out of North Carolina seems almost like a Lifetime move: best man fatally stabs bride. Sadly, that is the situation in Raleigh after Jonathan Broyhill allegedly killed Jameson Kirk Hahn this week. The Associated Press via WMBF News shared the details on April 24.

A wedding announcement from the wedding of Jamie Kirk Hahn to Nation Hahn from 2009 lists Broyhill as the groom's best man. Now he is facing charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Both Jamie and Nation Kirk were stabbed in their home Monday night. Jamie Kirk Hahn died from her injuries while Nation Hahn was treated and released.

-snip-

Nation Hahn is a Democratic strategist, and Jamie was a political fundraiser. Broyhill previous worked with Jamie, and he was also treated at the hospital for what appear to be self-inflicted injuries. Reports indicate the three regularly got together on Monday nights, and somehow this last gathering led to the tragic incident. So far no motive has been shared.

Update:

Raleigh woman dies following stabbing

A wedding announcement in a South Carolina newspaper listed Broyhill as the best man at the couple's wedding in April 2009. The Hahn family said Broyhill did not live with the couple, but visited regularly and ate dinner with them Monday evening.

Broyhill had been charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflecting serious injury. Raleigh police said they are in the process of charging him with murder following Jamie's death and arrest warrants are expected to be served once he is released from WakeMed.

Sources told ABC11 Wednesday a possible motive for the attack could involve missing money. Broyhill apparently kept the books for Jamie Hahn's business and some political campaigns.

She was cute.

Neither one of the guys is much of a prize, though.

My guess is some combination of unrequited love and embezzlement.

I once attended a wedding reception where the bride and groom got into a knockdown-dragout fistfight. Now’s there’s something you don’t see every day ;-)

Yeah, they even think grits is real food.

Hey, I had grits for breakfast this morning, and I was born north of the Mason-Dixon line...

"Nation"? How would you like to carry that name around with you?

Come on, you know you'd go around saying things like: "I do everything for the Nation!"

Grits is what’s left when all the nutrition and taste has been removed from the corn.

Headline ‘talks’ like wedding was yesterday.
Story says 4 years ago.
Also, why would one of the ‘family’ make a statement that the ‘best man’ wasn’t living in the couples home, just visited on Mondays.

Of course that headline kind of makes the WHOLE STORY suspect.

Is the guy on the right wearing lipstick?

If so, that can explain a lot...

Why do Democrats have an incessant need to turn tragedies into political statements?
The family said they were inspired by how the community rallied around her following the incident.

"It is our fervent hope that an even larger community will be inspired now by the way she lived her life," the family continued. "She dedicated her life and her work to the ideal that we were put on this earth to care for those who need an extra measure of care. She believed in justice, opportunity and fairness for all. She loved politics and she saw the Democratic Party as the path to realize her ideals."

"She had a gift for bringing us together - black and white, young and old, gay and straight. She challenged us to work together for a better world," her family said. "Her light will shine on in all of us who knew and loved her."
