A Midland man died late Tuesday night from a shotgun wound he suffered after attempting to enter a neighbors home in the 2400 block of Brunson, according to a press release from the citys public information officer.
Midland police responded to a shooting at about midnight Tuesday and found Samuel Pompa, 32, with a shotgun wound to the chest. He was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital, where he died from his wounds, according to the release.
Officers ascertained that Pompa had tried to break into the residence of a 19-year-old man who was living in a separate unit at the same address as Pompa.

From the article:
“Pompa was armed with a baseball bat and the alleged victim used the shotgun to protect himself and others at his residence, according to the release.”

Yep. Told my wife. “You don’t even have to aim. Just point it in the right direction and pull the trigger.”
Don’t know if she is ready for the aftermath, but we’ll worry about that as it comes.

Happened at midnight. Nothing good happens at that hour.
Odds are he was drunk.

This'll shoot four 000 Buck balls (.410 handgun loads) or .45 LC (45 ACP with adapters)

I’m guessing you are looking for comments on the baseball bat vs. a shotgun?
Like someone once said - if you are fighting fair, you’re not doing it right! Or - “Stupid Pompa, never bring a knife to a gun fight”.

Dang - I meant to paraphrase “baseball bat” instead of “knife”. But - the guy was obviously a threat. Even unarmed he could have been determined to be a threat. And having a baseball bat makes it seem unlikely that he just happened to drunkenly wander into the wrong apartment

used the shotgun to protect himself and others at his residence What do you figure the odds to be that one of those "others" was the supposed girlfriend of the deceased.

I’d love to own one...
First shot .410 for shock and awe effect
Second shot .45 for accuracy.

Nah! Now, she says she wants a scope for my rifle. I guess, so she’s got both short range and long range covered.
Nifty lil’ pistol though. Kick much with the .410 loads?
