This site should have made him a millionaire, and none of us here would have felt anything wrong about that. (We LIKE capitalism here)
No one would have objected to some advertising. Drudge report does it in a very unobtrusive way.
But to go contstantly begging for money is not a working model.
I would GLAD pay for ‘membership’ if I was forced to, and there should be some recognition that you are a contributor. Maybe a gold, silver or bronze star next to your name indication your level of sponsorship.
And nothing has changed for a decade. Why does hardware crash so much when he has over a $300,000 a year budget? I could run this site on one-forth of that.
And there is still no ‘like’ button. We can preach to each other all day long, but there is no way to share the nuggets we find of good stuff with the rest of the world. That would not only be EASY these days, but it would generate new traffic to the site and possible more income.

Has there ever been a yearly budget breakdown ever shown as to how the $340,000 per year is used? That’s saying almost $1000 a day is needed to run FR. Maybe if people had a basic idea of what is actually going towards what, it might at least give them some reasons for donating. Otherwise it’s just a large nebulous number and it has people asking the very questions people would naturally ask - how/why does it cost so much to run this place? Give them a basic but detailed enough answer, and it may be enough to convert questioners into donors.
I am the founding member AND only member of the “Loose Change Club”.
From FReepathon to FReepathon I keep track of my loose change, add it up and then send the amount in to FR.
In three months it adds up to a nice sum, but for those of you who would rather not join me, why not just see what is in your pocket at the moment, and donate that amount?
It isn’t much from one, but from many it would add to the bucket and help bring an end to this present plea.

If the powers listened to constructive suggestions I’d be all for donating again. As a past dollar a day donor I am tired of supporting a site that refuses to listen. FR is going to die of its own self inflicted cuts...
