Money Can't Buy Love, But It Can Open The Door To US Citizenship

Svetlana Anikeeva is expecting a green card any day now after she and her husband invested $500,000 in the construction of a Seattle office and retail space.

By Andrew Rafferty

While most U.S. residents cannot put a price tag on the value of citizenship, Svetlana Anikeeva and her husband can -- $500,000. Immigration

That’s because the Russian immigrants came to the U.S. through the EB-5 visa program, a federal initiative that allows foreigners to earn a green card granting them permanent residency – and a path to citizenship – in return for investing at least $500,000 in an American business and creating at least 10 jobs.

For Anikeeva, she knew after spending her junior year of high school in Savannah, Ga., that she wanted to one day call America home. The student’s return to the United States was not immediate or certain.

She went home to Vladivostok, attended college, then spent seven years in Japan with her husband and daughter, helping run the family’s luxury automobile export business.

But as their daughter grew, Anikeeva and her husband decided they wanted her to have the advantages that come with an American education. And they were willing to pay to make it happen. "It was most of everything we had at the moment,” Anikeeva said of the money.

Immigration policy should be oriented toward people who want to be us and have something to contribute to the country.

It should filter out people who do not want to assimilate, are going to have a hard time assimilating. It should filter out people who are takers and people who will merely displace low-skilled and low income Americans.

I have no problem with restricting immigration to Europeans who share US values and culture, gays excluded. You make a great point. Some cultures are incapable of assimilation because they continue to speak in their native dialect, import into the US alien religious and filthy cultural habits and rituals and everything in between.

It’s better to sell citizenship and offset the national debt - than have democrats give it away for votes.

It would be best to stop all immigration until we're absolutely sure we want to destroy our culture.

To give up what we have for a 'brown' culture or a Muslim culture doesn't make a lot of sense. There are already lots of 'brown' countries in the world.... and most of them are so horrible people can't wait to get out... and come here. Problem is - like Boston has found out - 'immigrants' bring their culture with them.

Let's assimilate the folks who came here - help them become Americans - rather than allow their numbers to overwhelm our culture while allowing them to recreate the horrible places they escaped from...

It’s highly immoral, so in this stage of the process of collapse, most influential constituents will love it.
