Why are you so hostile toward women who have to work to put a roof over their heads? If you have a husband who can support you and your children, if he didn’t lose his job during the recession, congratulations. Not everyone is so fortunate. If you have a proposal for how people are supposed to get money for food without recourse to welfare or a job, I think we’d all love to hear it.

Very few mothers like the idea of daycare. I don’t personally know anyone who is happy about it. But since you’ve used the word “abuse” to characterize women who have recourse to daycare, let me say it’s probably more abusive to allow the heat or lights to go out, or to have to live in Section Eight housing, because Mom refuses to get a job.

You just think I’m hostile because the truth hurts.

Children need sleep and their mothers are not giving it to them. The only reason for such a problem is the selfishness of the mothers.

I think that kids have always gotten up at 6 in the morning, and nothing stops a mother from putting her children to bed earlier at night. I think that you have no way of knowing what time every working mother in the US puts her kids to bed, so you can't make such blanket condemnations. I think there are some mothers who are selfish, but it's far more selfish to let kids lose their homes, go without electricity, or live on welfare in Section 8 housing because Mom wants to stay home with them.

You still haven't told us what your proposed solution is for mothers. Where are they supposed to get money if they don't work? Welfare?

The thread is about children not getting enough sleep. That makes mothers guilty, no question.

I think there are some mothers who are selfish, but it's far more selfish to let kids lose their homes, go without electricity, or live on welfare in Section 8 housing because Mom wants to stay home with them.

So, what excuse did the mothers have before Obama's economy came along?

You still haven't told us what your proposed solution is for mothers. Where are they supposed to get money if they don't work? Welfare?

Apparently, they have decided to abuse their young children to solve their problems.

OK, you win. Working mothers are bad, cruel, selfish, and abusive. It’s far better to let one’s children live in Section 8 housing with the druggies and gangs than to get a job and give them a middle-class upbringing. What an ideal solution!

Selfish. They are selfish.

You still have not provided suggestions for what mothers should do when they need money to pay for food, housing, and utilities, if they are not to work. What is your idea?

Don’t you know?

Build a traditional values family and stick with your spouse for a lifetime. Stop abusing your children now, and they won’t abuse you in your old age. Cancel your cable TV, sell the second car, skip fast foods, etc, and live simply. Find a good church that can provide direction when times are bad.

Those are all lovely suggestions but you have suggested ways of saving money, not making money without labor. I am still waiting to hear your proposal for how people are to make money without working. If you have an idea for how this is to be done, millions of us would love to hear it! Where does the food, rent, medication, heat, and clothing come from if there is no income??

There are millions of us who do not have cable, or a second car, or vacations, cell phones, fast food, new clothes, big houses, manicures, magazine subscriptions, club memberships, sports, hobbies, or any other little pleasure. Yet somehow we still have to work, because traditional values or not, good church or not, food does not magically appear on the table. The electric utility does not smile fondly and say, "Oh, we won't cut this family's lights off for nonpayment. We want to see this mother stay at home with her kids all day." Not going to happen.

You are not being realistic. Even the best church is not going to provide complete support for a family just because Mom wants to stay at home and not work.

If you reject all options, then you can only give your children to someone who can feed them and let them sleep! Wouldn’t you agree?

You have not made a single suggestion for a way a mother might get money to feed her children without work. I have asked repeatedly for your secret way of acquiring money and have heard nothing. I’m done. Enjoy your superiority. And do pray that you will never be forced to work for your food. Must be nice.

Seriously, you cannot live a life that abuses your children. What you do, starting right now, is build a traditional family. You need to humble yourself and get your extended family involved. You need to join with your husband (who is required to bring home the bacon) to plan around the children’s needs. You can’t do it by yourself, even in good times, so jump out of that rut and live by traditional values. God will provide.

It sseems more and more people are having aleep problems.

(I would have answered you sooner but was out of the state.)

It’s an easy thing to take care of. To fend off the Evil Sleep Meanies, I take melatonin before bedtime. It helps. I take 40 mg, but most people don’t need that much. I take it because I have CFIDS, and sleep problems are a given.

I hope this atricle helps you find an answer!

What if there is no extended family? Everyone is dead. What if there is no husband anymore?

You still have not said how a woman is supposed to provide for her children without working. Still waiting on that. Please suggest a fabulous home business that will provide enough income to support a couple of kids and their mother without requiring her to leave the house. Ideas are welcome.

Melatonin and some herbal tees help with sleeping. I have always had sleep problems; slept with one eye open and one ear on the alert. Now as I approach 70 and with type 2 diabetes, the bathroom beckons far too often, night and day, Wind up taking a nap or two during the day.
