With a growing number of foods boasting added caffeine for an energy boost, the Food and Drug Administration says it's time to investigate their safety.
The FDA's new look at added caffeine and its effects on children and adolescents is in response to a caffeinated gum introduced this week by Wrigley.

Damn it! I sometimes chew the caffeinated military gum when I’m on nightshift. Guess that makes me some sort of criminal? Or maybe it just makes me a big dumb dummy & the FDA will save me from myself.
I like the idea of caffeinated gum. It might be fun... the faster you chew, the faster you chew, the faster you chew.
We live in a country where it’s legal to kill your babies and your 15 year old daughters can buy the morning after pill without a parents knowledge, sex is taught to children in kindergarden, the Boy Scouts is soon going to become the Gay Scouts, perverts can get married and/or adopt children, the Bill of Rights and 2A only applies in some states, where treason is no longer a crime and on and on.
But you can be sure that the FDA will make sure that your chewing gum is safe, in their view.

Man, when I am on the bike I’ll often eat them energy gels, I like to start out with a decaf and after a few miles ease into a 1x caffeine and work my way up to a couple of the double-shots. After the 60 mile mark, I figger what does not kill me makes me stronger.
‘Course I never was all that sharp. But I ain’t been killed by caffeine yet.
Yet ;) It is actually the rednecks in F250s that I worry about a lot more than GU or PowerBars.

Sure, let 15 yr old girls (or even younger if I’m correct) get abortion drugs across the counter but don’ t you dare sell them gum or tail mix with caffeine!
