Tim Scott, More Republicans Come to Mark Sanford’s Aid #SC01
Roll Call ^ | May 1, 2013

Scott was appointed to the Senate. (Bill Clark/CQ Roll Call File Photo)

Only nine days ago, former Gov. Mark Sanford invoked the Alamo in a full-page advertisement in his local paper, pleading for reinforcements to his embattled special election campaign. The appeal might have worked.

The latest Republican to offer support is the man whose appointment to the Senate created the seat’s special election: Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C. He’s one of several Republicans and conservatives who offered either verbal or financial support to Sanford in the last week

“Mark Sanford is hands down better on all of [fiscal] issues, and that’s why I believe he merits support,” Scott told the Charleston Post and Courier on Wednesday.

Come on. This is a terrible decision. It is NOT about the sex! I wish people would stop doing what people did to Clinton. It is NOT about the sex! It is about using tax payer money to go to Argentina to visit his girlfriend. Leaving the state without notifying anyone. Breaking into his ex-wife’s house (how hard it is to call her and say “I want to watch the game with the kids?). He is a complete mess. Tim Scott is obviously not a conservative. Another RINO disappointment.

"Meh, I could really care less about that loser Sanford."

You should care that if Sanford loses that is one vote closer to having Nancy Pelosi run the House and ram any legislation she wants through it. Like Obamacare.

As bad as the Pubbies are they are d*mned sight better than the Rats.

I don’t have a dog in this fight but as far as I know Sanford hasn’t been pimping gay marriage, gun control or abortion so I would probably vote for him given the choice.

Doesn’t mean I have to love him.

Republicans/conservatives should vote for Sanford, but he was still a terrible nominee and the primary voters should be ashamed of themselves.

Good move by Tim Scott. I like all the folks named in the article supporting Sanford EXCEPT FOR THE DESPICABLE LITTLE LINDSEY GRAHAM. The NRCC is everybit as despicable as Graham so their lack of support doesn’t bother me at all—I just wish they’d stop calling me (I never answer the phone when they and their allied names such as the NRC show up on caller ID).

If you’re in the mood for making a donation to the conservative in this race, and sending a vote against amnesty to the House—here’s the link.

Excellent point. I always think of situations such as this as representing a swing of TWO VOTES (one less against Pelosi and one more for Pelosi). Thinking “swing of two votes” keeps me more motivated.

Thank you, Tim Scott! We need to win this seat! We need to keep a majority in the House. We all have sinned and come short of God’s righteous standard, but at least Sanford has confessed and asked forgiveness. Let’s move on. Sanford did not break into his wife’s house, he was invited by his own son. It is his son.

I think we have enough psychopath perverts in Congress. He’ll be sending out pictures of his “winning” penis and butt to college girls in time. Maybe he’ll take on McStupid’s bimbo sex crazed daughter. He’ll end up with dead interns in his office like that other pervert “conservative” at MSNBC we know. Call me a pessimist. : )

People of lowly character who act destructively for immediate gratification should not be in positions of power. If he screwed his wife, children and the people of his state while he was gov., he’s likely to screw his state voters in the senate. We should re;ward peple of high character to positions of power. Although no one is perfect, when considering people for power, we need to expect demonstrated loyalty to the constituion and character beyond your average Democrat ghetto rat.
