Atheist accuses Christians of treason over beliefs

Argues any military member talking about faith guilty of sedition

That there have been those who oppose Christianity in all its forms and expressions at any time anywhere isn’t new. Those are personalities like Mikey Weinstein, of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, who recently said, “We face incredibly well-funded gangs of fundamentalist Christian monsters who terrorize their fellow Americans by forcing their weaponized and twisted version of Christianity upon their helpless subordinates in our nation’s armed forces.”

The fact the military is listening to him is new.

That was confirmed in a report by Fox News’ Todd Starnes, who said Weinstein “and others from his organization met privately with Pentagon officials on April 23.”

“He said U.S. troops who proselytize are guilty of sedition and treason and should be punished – by the hundreds if necessary…” Starnes reported.

And the military seems to be listening, he noted, based on a statements obtained from Lt. Cmdr. Nate Christensen: “Religious proselytization is not permitted within the Department of Defense. … Court martials (sic) and non-judicial punishments are decided on a case-by-case basis and it would be inappropriate to speculate on the outcome in specific cases.”

“Someone needs to be punished for this,” Weinstein told Fox. “Until the Air Force or Army or Navy or Marine Corps punishes a member of the military for unconstitutional religious proselytizing and oppression, we will never have the ability to stop this horrible, horrendous, dehumanizing behavior.”

The Washington-based Family Research Council, which recently came under the gunfire of a leftist who said his goal was to kill as many people as he could, said the situation simply doesn’t make any sense.

“Why would military leadership be meeting with one of the most rabid atheists in America to discuss religious freedom in the military,” asked FRC chief Tony

Wow, communist propaganda. (And atheists like to disavow communism when it's pointed out that communist states have state atheism as government policy.)

He’d have the Founding Fathers executed for treason too, wouldn’t he?
Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. — John Adams

Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. — George Washington

There are idiots....and then there are ****ing idiots like this one.

If the most peaceful religious group on Earth makes him this nervous then he would probably piss oceans in the presence of REAL Muslim terrorists!

The idiot also seems to have no appreciation for the REAL violence imposed upon the victims of Islam.

and yet "fundamentalist Christians" tolerate the communist take-over instead of rebelling.

The only way that Christians could be more peaceful is to die...which is exactly what atheist idiots want them to do.

Ship “Mikey” to Saudi Arabia. One way ticket. No passport. Persona non grata on US soil. He can experience real oppression first hand.

Once in the town i live in, he was a guess on the local AM talk radio afternoon show. Mikey Weinstein was smooth and reasonable. All his requests were reasonable. He was relating numerous stories about commanders and superiors who literally punished and abused subordinates who did not share their faith.
Nobody could possibly be against what he claimed to be defending the troops from.

Then the host started taking calls. Every question unmasked him a little more. I called and in a very cordial tone asked if he was really wanting to protect the troops from abusive commanders, or if he was actually one of those extremists. like the ones who go to the center of the Mojave desert to demand the removal of a WWI memorial cross.

Bada bing,, he became this venomous SOB and went on a rant about how no cross should be on government land, etc.
NO matter what this guy ever says, he is on a revolutionary, socialist, athiest jihad.

The incredible brain dead stupidity of some people never ceases to amaze me.

There is not supposed to be any prohibition on the excercise of religion nor the freedom of speech. I wish all these nuts would just choke on a chicken bone and have to spend all their time recovering in silence instead of making people miserable and whining about the most fantastic of warped delusions.

Quagmires are moral long before they are military.

You find yourself in a quagmire when you lose sight of who you are, and what you believe in, and when you lose the courage of your convictions. And this happens precisely when you allow your enemies to define you. America is not a country in the ordinary meaning of the word, it is spiritual or it is nothing at all. The day we lose sight of that, the day we lose the courage to live the principles that drive us, “the day the music dies”, is the day we cease to be.

And no one will mourn us, because no one left will believe we ever were what we once believed we were, and what we once aspired to be. No one will believe we ever were, or ever could have been.

Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, "Are you for us or for our enemies?" "Neither," he replied, "but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come." Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, "What message does my Lord have for his servant?" (Joshua 5:13-14)
Does God take sides in war? The question is wrongly conceived. The challenge is for us to determine where God stands, and to make sure we stand there also. Once certain of our position and our direction, our job is to hold our ground, stand for what we stand for, and to move forward in the direction we know we must. God has granted us liberty, and we owe him courage in return.

I take your comment as sarcasm since, as we all know, they are the most vehement proselytizers. Atheism is a faith. Their adherents believe themselves to be the center and source of everything and that there is no divine authority... only man’s authority. They are fools, though, because they declare man’s inerrant authority and yet claim there is no inerrant authority. They contradict themselves. Science doesn’t disprove a divine creator. How can it? Apples and oranges. In fact, I would argue that nature points directly to a creator ultimately revealed to men throughout history. We all read about it in the bible.

No one should be forced to be exposed to any religion. And no one should be stopped from believing what they wish.

I swear that ‘treason’ is one of the most misused words in our vocabulary. Since it is defined in our Constitution the only explanation is that nobody reads it.

Your quotes are beautiful, especially the one from Adams. I realize you posted this nearly a year ago, but I just now realize the import of the Adams quote. Here’s an explicit acknowledgment by a Founding Father that the “Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.” So much for so-called separation! Atheists can continue to try hiding behind the Constitution, but it wasn’t intended for them and thus clearly does not protect them. In other words: open season!
