KHOU 11 News out of Houston, Texas, is reporting that shots have been fired at Bush Intercontinental Airport, wounding one man.
Houston Police Department told KHOU the shooting was self-inflicted and occurred near the ticket counter in Terminal B. The Houston Chronicle reported a spokeswoman saying the incident, which is believed to be isolated, occurred around 1:35 p.m. central time.

The suspect, described as male, fired two shots into the air with an AR-15 and was then shot at by an air marshal who missed. At this point, KHOU reports a HPD captain saying, the man pulled out a pistol and shot himself.

He was taken by ambulance to an area hospital. There are no reports of other injuries. The terminal has since been closed.

These shots come the day before the 142nd NRA convention kicks off in Houston May 3.

Sheesh! Everythings about making a statement today...one way or another....killing onesself and others seems to becomeing the “fad”....if the media didn’t run with it it would likely not be a big deal.

I’m hearing that he walked up to the security checkpoint and fired the AR-15 into the air a couple of times. An air marshal fired at him and missed, then the perp pulled out another pistol and shot himself.

I'm appalled at myself, but I couldn't help laughing at this. It makes me think of a weird fusion of suicide by cop and that scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark where Harrison Ford pops the big sword-flashing arab. The AR guy, not finding a skilled cop to shoot him, has to do it himself.

Maybe just like the guy in Atlanta that decided blue suicide was better than getting foreclosed on. But the Air Marshall missed and he decided it would be easier to show him how to do it instead of trying to explain it to him.

Sounds like we need an Air Marshall who needs a few less flights a week to go to the range.

He has always said that someday some crazy person is going to figure out how much damage can be done by going off in a terminal. Forget the plane-think of all the people in a terminal on the non secure side of our beloved TSA critters.

You mean all those hundreds of people packed together with huge unscreened bags are sitting ducks for real terrorists. That's why the TSA is a joke and useful only for training American citizens to act like prisoners in their own country.

Anyone who shoots themselves over money issues has all their values in the wrong place.

I doubt this is the case with this guy...and I really don’t care why he shot himself. What I do care about is he could of accomplished his death sentence in his bath tub....done deal... and no other life at risk.
