Teachers in rural Oregon are stunned after the local Sheriff’s Department attempted to test their school’s emergency readiness by sending two masked gunmen into the Pine Eagle Charter School, wearing hoodies and wielding handguns.
The event, which took place last Friday during a staff meeting of teachers, was part of a surprise drill conducted by the Sheriff’s Department, aimed at testing “Pine Eagle’s preparation for an assault by ‘active shooters,’ who were in reality volunteer staff members of the school.”
The volunteers fired blanks at everyone in the room, “killing” all but two of the teachers.
According to local media, the school’s principal stated, “it became clear very quickly just how many of the school’s fifteen teachers would have survived. The answer: Not many.”
The armed volunteers did not fear any threat of being shot by onlookers, who mistook them for being real shooters, due to the fact that the school is a gun-free zone and everyone in the room was unarmed.
The apparent goal of the drill was to demonstrate how defenseless individuals inside a school are, during such a situation.

The one thing I instilled on my wife and daughter from day one (actually discussed it with the wife before we got married) is that in a situation woth a mugger/like this, whatever, ‘we are likely to die anyway so go down swingin’.
Because in truth, people doing nothing, die anyway.

Even assuming nobody was armed, an unarmed teacher could have (and probably should have) rushed the pretend perps. Somebody could have gotten hurt or even killed.

Those idiots are damn lucky there wasn’t one or two of the teachers that WERE armed. That would have ended REAL BADLY for both sides.

This was an asinine thing to do.
I support guards in schools or allowing teachers, but trying to prove its effectiveness this way is beyond the pale.
What if someone had been hurt by the blanks? What if someone had a heart attack thanks to these Rambos? What if someone did bring a gun and shoot the officers, or do something else to disable them?

He’d better. Not only that they should be charged with a felony and lose their right to ever own a gun again. What is the first rule of gun safety? Never point a gun loaded or unloaded at anyone unless you are prepared to kill them. There have been too many of these stories lately of police acting lawlessly. I think if this happened to me and I still had my whits about me I’d fake a heart attack and then sue them so hard their 10th generation of grand kids would feel it.
