Weekly Standard reporter John McCormack has unearthed an old video from 2003, when President Barack Obama was running for the U.S. Senate from Illinois, in which he defends his position favoring late-term abortions.

OBAMA: “I am pro-choice.”

REPORTER: “In all situations including the late term thing?”

OBAMA: “I am pro-choice. I believe that women make responsible choices and they know better than anybody the tragedy of a difficult pregnancy and I don’t think that it’s the government’s role to meddle in that choice.”

As a 12 leader of the prolife organization in my neck of the woods, and in such
capacity spending a great deal of time thinking on these matters, it strikes me viscerally
that to trumpet Obama's perfectly consistent stance as beyond the pale, or over the limit,
or the final horror, is not honest. In fact, to me, it is duplicitous.
On the one hand, we oppose abortion murder, but on the other, we attempt to gain political
points by painting our political opponent as really, really, really in favor
of abortion. Adverbs, indeed methods, neither add nor subtract to the eternally riveting
fact: premeditated, coldly calculated murder of the person least able to put up a resistance.
Cold-blooded, cowardly murder, whether 4 weeks or 36 weeks.

Then why does Obamacare prohibit them selecting an insurance policy with benefits tailored to their individual need? Why does it prohibit them from negotiating their own premiums? Their own deductible? From making their own choices about health care with their physicians without federal interference? Why are you legislating away their choices if you consider them so responsible?
