Economists feared uncertainty over the full impact of higher taxes and deep government spending cuts on already sluggish demand was making businesses reluctant to hire. A 2 percent payroll tax cut ended at the start of the year, and $85 billion in federal budget cuts went into effect on March 1.

This is starting to baffle me. There is NO reason to hire anyone right now. The only explanation I have is they might be counting part time jobs as real jobs. Maybe people that have left the work force are coming back as part timers. I just don’t have a feel for what the numbers are saying. Either I’m crazy or someone is lying.

I have sat here for 4+ years looking at frigging jobs numbers that have been hyped, pumped, hyperboleed (maybe not a word, but it’s what it feels like to me!) cajoled, explained, pooh-poohed, balleyhooed, brandished, argued and trumpeted when their lies work out to something better than expected.

I have sat here listenting all these dozens of months hearing about “unexpected” and “there’s a reason for the downturn - the Tsunami, the ATM fees, the Hurricanes, the Gulf Oil Spill, that boil on my ass, etc.” and the frigging stock market jubilously freaks out upward when one of you hung-over yuppy stock market pukes driving around in a BMW with bald tires takes a sip of your triple-mocha-yatsa-lotsa latte with cinnamon sprinkles and angel dingleberries and makes a coupla buys and the computers think Jesus has returned and take off like one of Fast-Five driving a car like he stole it.

They revised last month’s MONTHLY new jobs numbers UP...so frigging what. For as many months as that fake has been in office, they have been reporting (and, THAT probably has been continually revised downward IMO).

From where I sit here in the mountains of north Georgia, I’m not bringing out the twizzlers and pop-em-ups. I’m wondering just what in the hell is the matter with the rest of this frigging country....just don’t understand it (well, yes I do, but I was brought up to believe that we could triumph over evil. But it seems like we have so so many forces aligned against us - it is mighty discouraging).

Peace out brothers and sisters....

Weekly claims for unemployment IIRC have been over 330K per week for as long as my feeble mind can remember - left that out.

The only explanation I have is

193,000 jobs were "made up" out of thin air. In a healthy economy, the government can use the Birth/Death model and get pretty close to the actual number. But, in an economy where no one is getting hired after people die or retire, the Birth/Death model doesn't work. They're still "assuming" all the lost people are being replaced, but they're not. Remove the 193,000 fake jobs, and we're really BEHIND 28,000 jobs.

The government also uses the unemployment offices to judge unemployment. When people stop going to the unemployment office to find work - those people don't exist. They aren't counted. Those who have run out or didn't work long enough to make a claim aren't counted either.

If everyone in the country lost their job this month, but didn't go to the official unemployment office because it would be a waste of time - the unemployment number would be 0! It would look totally awesome! The nation would be booming (according to how they're counting the unemployed today).

Yep. The only thing keeping this country afloat is printed money. They've been cranking out the monopoly money for years now. It can't go on forever.
(That would explain why DHS is buying up all that ammo. All hell is going to break loose when those EBT cards stop working.)

The ooga-booga ‘sequestered’ cut to the budget is about $85 billion.

For about as many months as I am old, this governement (well, the FED who is supposed to be separate and independent) has been printing effing money by the buttload at the tune of $85 billion PER MONTH since Obama’s “I promise you frigging EVERYTHING” election and stimulus “we done won the lottery, Shaniqua!”.

They takes that $85 billion and buys them T-bills wit it....the T-bill sales count as INCOME....an offset that nasty deficit, etceterawhatchamacallit. IOW, we gots real value backing up our spending... HORSESHIT! More money after bad, printing scrip (the fed can have the Treasury just print that crap up with a brother’s IOU).....

The stock market complicit brokers and the unknowing computers just treat this like ASSETS and “let the good times roll.” Evathang’s hunkydorey....

Meanwhile, in my town, that tractor supply place is still empty, half the little strip malls still empty, and I don’t see no fricking “help wanted ads” in the local newspaper that will lead to a real job. The only thing I see is Walmart doing a bang-up bidness with 40% EBT grocery sales, other service industry fast-food places, and a rising crime rate. Thanks Bronco Bama.

Thanks Bronco Bama.

Yep. It' s that hopie changie thing. He's just trying to spread the misery around a little bit to make things a little more "fair".

Saul Alinski - obomas hero - was all about getting his hands on everyone elses "loot." That's it. Not jobs or achievement, just stealing everyone elses "loot." That's what he called it. It's nothing but organized thievery.
There's one big problem Alinski missed. He assumed the middle class would band together, work overtime, invent and mass produce to save their country no matter what. He was wrong. Instead, they're digging bunkers, stocking food, and they're going to leave the left to fend for itself. That's a big problem for the left. They don't understand the desire to be free. Without obedient tax slaves, they're at a total loss.

If you look at the era from whence this socialist's ideals were formed, all he had for a current example was the industrial engine that won World War II. He mistakenly thought that the drive to 'win' for democracy (small d) could translate to unions, thugism, lying and socialism similarly.

I honestly don't think he ever assumed that so many, many Americans would succumb to sloth and idleness, nor did he think the rest of us could get so pissed off that they just "check out" of the production line and turn in their time cards.

The problem is that the Oresident bought his schpiel hook, line and sinker to get installed in power and now is using a combination of "I wun da lottery, partay time!", "Islam, love it or die" and "suck it, whitey" attitude.

After eight years of this man-boy with an attitude, who knows how bad it will be?

Someone help me out here, 'cause I'm no economist or labor market analyst. How can an increase of 165K jobs, which five years ago would've been considered weak, result in a 1/10th of a point down tick in the unemployment "rate"? Prior to '07, I'd always heard that it takes in the neighborhood of 200K jobs created per month just to keep with population growth. Now they want us to believe an anemic 165K jobs is good enough to drop the so-called unemployment rate?

I'm pretty sure it's from people running out of unemployment benes, and therefore dropping off the radar screens of the goobermint. If that's the case, I'm not surprised the media suck-ups aren't talking about it.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

Yep. He never expected us to back off and rebel. Why, people marveled over him in 2008. They even referred to him as a "savior!"
Without tax slaves working, building, creating...there's no access to other peoples money. Without other peoples money, communism/ socialism can't work.

NOW what is he going to do? Scorched earth to punish the American people for their blasphemy against him? How is he going to "force" people to rise up and rally for the economic cause?
He's bashed and taxed the working class over and over again for years . They don't owe him any favors

Another failure for Obama’s “sequester-is-a disaster” plan. Cut government more than 2%, say 10%, and an economic boom would kick-start this country.

Whether or not you collect unemployment benefits, or whether you did but no longer, does not affect the way the unemployment rate. The primary way to massage the unemployment rate number is via the calculation of the labor force participation rate.
