Illinois Rep. Mike Bost Goes Ballistic In 2nd Amendment Debate
Freedom Outpost ^ | May 3, 2013 | Tim Brown

Mike Bost , who exploded last year after he was given a massive bill just minutes before a vote on it on the House floor, once again launched into blasting the tyrants in the Illinois State House. This time he took aim at freshman legislator Scott Drury’s comments about other Republican members of the House and their stand on the Second Amendment.

“Floor amendments should be some technical small change that we shouldn’t have to worry about like this. But yet you bring a whole bill that has questions whether it is even constitutional,” Bost said. “Folks, the process is really messed up. Quit! This is not the bill that everyone has debated…it is a ploy and once again your side of the aisle keeps trying to make ploys instead of dealing with the real issue. Keep playing games!”

“Do you know that one of the associations actually has a click-down of when we have constitutional carry in the state of Illinois? And you want to endanger your citizens and keep playing games like this? Vote no!,” he said, as he threw the microphone forward over the desk.

However, when Rep. Drury said there were no “Constitutional scholars” in the House and then he accused Republicans of being two-faced that Bost launched into attack mode from across the room.

If that wasn’t enough, Dury didn’t know when to keep his mouth shut and pointed at Bost and said, “we don’t want someone like that carrying a concealed weapon.”

“You can’t say ‘our side of the aisle’ on this issue, it’s not about one party or the other,” Bost said. “There was screaming on both sides of the aisle because he overstepped his bounds. The bill failed miserably.”

The bill failed miserably by a vote of 76-31.

I think we need a little more men like Mike Bost who are not worried about what people think or how they are perceived, but make the stands for what is right. More power to Representative Bost!

The inaptly named “Democratic” Party has no intention of permitting the democratic process to work — now or in the future.

He did well. That was quite feisty. I thought politics were much more boring than that.

Here’s how another IL state representative argued by means of an analogy a few weeks ago: (well worth watching)

Importantly, if this makes it to the June deadline without any law, then there will be NO law, and anyone who wants to can carry. It is the liberal’s worst nightmare, and hopefully gun dealers will be lining up on the state borders with thousands of handguns and ammo, ready to sell them legally in the biggest “gold rush” seen in a long time.

The best bet would be private sales that require no background checks.

If enough guns flood into Chicago, gun crime will likely drop like a rock. 99 will get you a hundred that Rahm Emanuel would try to claim credit for it.

Oh, I spoke too soon. The SCOTUS has involved itself, and not in a good way. It seems like the June 9th deadline is still in effect, but the Illinois attorney general has an extension to challenge the court order ordering the ruling.

http://progressillinois.com/news/content/2013/05/03/us-supreme-court-extends-illinois-concealed-carry-appeal-deadline

“The U.S. Supreme Court has extended the deadline for Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan to appeal a court ruling requiring the state to legalize concealed carry.

“Madigan now has until June 24 to decide whether to appeal the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling requiring the state to draft a bill legalizing concealed carry in Illinois by June 9. The Illinois General Assembly has yet to come to a consensus on such a measure.

“Last Friday, Madigan filed an appeal for an extension of the May 23 deadline to appeal, saying that it would allow her to see what kind of concealed carry bill lawmakers come up with by the June 9 deadline. Madigan also argued that the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals failed to consider federal court gun rulings, including a federal appeals court decision last month not to hear an appeal of New York’s restrictive “May issue” law.

“Meanwhile, gun advocates are warning that if lawmakers fail to pass a concealed carry bill by the June 9 deadline, people will be able to carry firearms with next to no limitations because “constitutional carry” would then become law in the state.”

Uh, if you're a "gun advocate" why would you warn anyone of that?? That sounds more like a warning that would be issued by [gun] control-freaks.

I think it is a debate tactic, but it could be half sarcasm. The gun controllers want to portray an absence of gun control laws as anarchic, so those in favor of gun rights pretend to offer up concessions, but not really, to take the mantle of “reasonableness”; which at times sounds really stupid.

This is because many voters will always support “brown”, the “mediocre vote”, because they are afraid of a strong position in anything. For example, if the Democrats came out with a call to legalize slavery, even though the Republicans would still be dead set against it, some of the mediocre fools in the public would be supportive of “the compromise”, of “some slavery”.

“Can’t we all get along?” is the clarion call of such weak individuals, who would favor everybody living in Purgatory instead of taking a strong position in favor of either Heaven or Hell.

Even the founding fathers, when considering if men were “naturally good” or “naturally bad”, reached the conclusion that most of us are “naturally weak”, so it is best if government is designed on the assumption of weakness of character, our nation is supported by those with good character, and to try and limit the power of those with bad character.

Not sure if I was clear or not. If you thought I was complaining about “warning” because it necessarily implies negative consequences, that wasn’t my point.

What I was saying that what will happen if the legislature deadlocks is the pro-rights side’s best possible outcome. So, if the other side has forgotten that in the heat of battle and is on a path to screwing themselves royally, why raise the alarm? Wouldn’t a rational person just keep their mouth shut? Why warn the other side something bad is about to befall them?

Or did you understand that and were saying that thinking so adversarially turns squishes among the public off?

Politics is tactics as well. The gun grabbers try to score points by arguing that having no law is anarchic and unreasonable. By pretending to cooperate, the pro-gun rights side neutralizes much of that attack.

With stalemate, gun rights wins, and the longer it stays in effect, the more determined it will become, and harder to change back, because all evidence is that gun freedom works.

Figures. Our lesbian AG strikes again. Doesn't she have another gay pride parade to march in?

I bump this thread because Bost is has announced for Congress against freshman rat Bill Enyart in Illinois’s 12th district, a traditionally rat but GOP trending district that was nearly tied in the 2012 Presidential voting.
