Seven US service members were killed on Saturday in one of the deadliest days for Americans in Afghanistan in recent months and the latest of attacks against international troops since the Taliban announced the start of their spring offensive.

The renewed violence came as Afghan president Hamid Karzai acknowledged at a news conference that regular payments his government has received from CIA for more than a decade would continue. Karzai also said that talks on a US-Afghan bilateral security agreement to govern future American military presence in the country had been delayed because of conditions the Afghans were placing on the deal

RIP

While I pray for our nation's best, I am filled with rage that we are still funding and propping up the cesspool that is Afghanistan. I also noticed that we had to receive this news from British media whereas under Bush, it would be plastered on every station and every MSM outlet would be talking about "Bush's war."

Can anybody tell me why we still have Americans as sitting ducks in that cesspool? At what point is enough enough? How many years, how many lives, how much money will be enough? I am sickened by these senseless deaths.

Dear G-d, give me the strength, not to accept, but to deal with the things I cannot change.
Hold our heroes in Your arms and bring them peace.

How can a newspaper waste ink on a story like this when a pro Basketball player has just come out of the closet? Don’t they realize what is important to our society?

I’m sure zero immediately stopped whatever he was pretending to be doing to call the families immediately.

(all sarcasm typed with complete disgust.)

The Demorats held out Afghanistan as the good war unlike Iraq and they would run it while withdrawing from Iraq. Green on blue attack (Afghan soldiers killing Amrican soldiers) have skyrocketed. Bush's war in Afghanistan was never this bad.

it pains me deeply to say that those brave souls lost in afghanistan have been sacrificed to the president’s ego and political ambitions. candidate obama used it as a foil to defend himself against claims from republicans that he was a huge pussy on terrorism. he opposed Iraq, so he had to find some strong policy on terrorism that he was in favor of. that policy turned out to be “the good war” in afghanistan. then, he grudgingly announced the surge (and announced the withdrawal in the very next sentence) so republicans couldn’t attack him for being a liar.

since then, his policy has been nothing but a series of half measures designed to keep the lid on the thing until the next election was over.

it has been a cynical, dishonest, and immoral exercise since it was conceived.

Remaining in Afghanistan is just supporting Islamic Terrorism. Paying Karzai anything is like paying tribute

I say we stay there and get this country under control. This is what President Bush wanted and we wanted. We definitely must stay the course or the last 10 years would have been a waste. President Bush was right and we must keep that in mind. God Bless President Bush and our military.

I can’t believe you folks! What a disgrace. We were all for this war and because it has gotten hard we are going to cower back? We cannot lose this war. We have made great gains and need to continue! Why fail our country?

Later, the coalition reported that a soldier with the Afghan National Army turned his weapon on coalition troops in the west, killing two in the most recent of so-called insider attacks. Such attacks by members of the Afghan security forces against their fellow colleagues or international troops have eroded confidence in the Afghan forces as they work to take over from foreign forces.

Both killed were American, according to two US officials who spoke on condition of anonymity to disclose the nationalities ahead of an official announcement.

Read that, fool, and tell me we have any business sacrificing one more single American life.

“Two other U.S. troops died after an Afghan National Army soldier turned his weapon on them in what is commonly referred to as a “green on blue” attack, the ISAF said.”

This really makes my blood boil!

When I was a kid growing up, I remember a lady in the neighborhood telling us a story about her father and her uncle. Her dad went to the local authorities and blew the whistle on her uncle (her dad's brother) and his friends. Seems they were planning some bombings and killings. The uncle was locked up and later died in prison.

Of course the lady telling me this was a ‘German war bride’ and the place she was talking about was Germany after World War II. The authorities were American Soldiers. The uncle and his friends were talking about ‘the fourth Reich’ that would raise from the ashes of the third. After nearly five years of having the snot bombed out of them, eating grass and paper off the walls to survive, as well as living like animals with every vestige of civilization destroyed, her dad and his friends said - ENOUGH!

We knew how to win wars back then.
