Terrorist Watch List of Tiny Minority of Extremists Approaching 1 Million

Posted By Daniel Greenfield On May 5, 2013 @ 4:55 pm In The Point | 4 Comments

In fact the tiny minority of extremists is so great that law enforcement officials are having trouble finding names in the tiny 875,000 names on the list.

The number of names on a highly classified U.S. central database used to track suspected terrorists has jumped to 875,000 from 540,000 only five years ago, a U.S. official familiar with the matter said.

Among those was suspected Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev, whose name was added in 2011. The increase in names is due in part to security agencies using the system more in the wake of the failed 2009 attack on a plane by “underpants bomber” Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab in Detroit.

Intelligence and law enforcement officials acknowledged in Congress that they had missed clues to that attack despite Abdulmutallab’s name appearing in the main database, known as TIDE.

U.S. officials now acknowledge that Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s name was entered into TIDE by the CIA in the autumn of 2011, after the U.S. spy agency received a request from Russian authorities to investigate him for suspected radical Islamist activities.

The CIA also entered the name of Tsarnaev’s mother, Zubeidat Tsarnaeva’s, into the TIDE database. Tamerlan Tsarnaev died in a shootout with authorities in the days following the Boston bombing and his younger brother Dzhokhar was captured by police.

And worse still, this isn’t anything like a comprehensive list. These are just the names that came up and were entered into it. The actual list would be vastly larger than a mere 875,000 names.

But even 875,000 names is the equivalent of an army. The United States Army only has 561,437 active duty personnel.

It’s time for the Democrats and their leftist allies to stop pretending that this is a criminal issue, when it’s actually a war.

875,000 names is not a gang. It is not a guerrilla force. It’s not a few men in a cave somewhere. It’s an army and should be treated like one.

I can understand that it’s slow going, copying names from all of those Christian church directories into the terrorist database.

One DHS clerk to another: “Are all of these people *really* Brothers and Sisters...???”

Recently, I did a search to find the bass player in my first blues band from 40 years ago. I found him in Oakland CA, and was able to find out on the Internet that he plays acoustic guitar in a little coffee house in SF, is unmarried, last four street addresses, age 61, and has grey hair and a receding hairline. If I was willing to pay 99 cents, I could have gotten his unlisted telephone number.
He has a common name, NO Facebook page and is not on social media.

If I am able to do this with no credentials or resources which are available to the government, why can’t they discern a loudmouth Terrorist with warnings from Russian and Saudi Intel, a Criminal Record of Violence against Women, and a Computer full of Al Qaida Videos?

Just askin’.

Isn’t just great when the Muslim apologists, Obama and his pals in the media claim that it is only a small little percentage of Muslims that are Islamist terrorists. Even if it was only 1% which is a very low estimate that the Left uses consider 1% of more than a Billion!

1 percent of 1 billion = 10 million

2.2 Billion: World’s Muslim Population Doubles
By Hanna JonesJan. 27, 20113 Comments

By 2030 the global population is set to reach over 8 billion and 26.4% of that population will be Muslim.

A report by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life titled “The Future of the Global Muslim Population” projects that the number of Muslims in the world is set to double from 1.1billion in 1990 to 2.2 billion in 2030.

The Democrat mind has a blind spot when it comes to reality. They also have a mental block against the concept of consequences. In many respects, Democrats are like immature children who engage in a make believe world.

It would be a lot smaller if they remove Tea Party members, military vets and disgruntled grandmothers and housewives who have complained about being mauled by TSA agents.

My guess is 75% of the people on list are as you described plus those right wingers who the SPLC condemns. Only 25% at most are Muzzies we are too afraid to monitor mosques

On any given morning, any given Muslim will wake up and discover his duty to Jihad. The idea that such a list can be compiled as an effective measure against terrorist attacks is foolish. One misplaced apostrophe, letter or space in a search and the cracks in the system open wide. I’m not saying such a list is not helpful, but to rely solely on that as the means of identifying threats is absurd.

Fact: Congress DOES NOT CARE.
******
Once they become denizens of Washington, all they care about is staying in office. The thought of giving up the limelight, power and perks and returning back home to work in obscurity is a frightening thing to them. You are absolutely right: the only thing they care about is serving themselves.

We should not hold the actions of ten or twelve hundred thousand Islamic terrorists against 1.2 million Muslims.

Sure, closed circuit teevee cameras catch them blowing up people all the time. ;-)

Amazing isn’t it? I recently found an old friend that fell out of touch many years ago using the same techniques. I was actually able to piece together her life before I ever called her.
Apparently our government is stupid and inefficient.
