The Boston Bombing and the 5 stages of liberal grief
Rare ^ | May 6, 2013 | Brett M. Decker and James S. Robbins

In the wake of the Boston Bombings, media commentators, academic experts and Obama administration officials exhibited classic signs of the five stages of liberal grief when faced with a mass casualty terrorist attack:

Stage 1 — Anger: Whoever did this was obviously a right wing, Tea Party-affiliated, patriot, militant, white, religious, Republican, tax-protesting, NRA-loving gun nut.

Stage 2 — Self Righteousness: Anyone who assumes that this tragedy was perpetrated by Muslim extremists is engaging in the worst form of racial profiling, jumping to conclusions based on no evidence whatever, and is undoubtedly a racist Islamophobe.

Stage 3 — Bargaining: The fact that the bombers were committed Muslims is incidental to the acts they committed. We have no idea what their motive was; it could be anything. There is really no basis for knowing. We may never know.

Stage 4 — Denial: This was an isolated incident of lone wolf terrorism unconnected to anything that could possibly imply that the Obama administration had let down its guard or overlooked obvious signs of imminent attack by an international terrorist conspiracy. Whatever the terrorists intended to do, they failed.

Stage 5 — Acceptance: The Boston bombing was not an act of terrorism. It was a series of man-caused sports-related injuries.

We're talking liberals here... remember they talk in circles. Thus, no matter the plethora of factual data put in front of their faces, there must be a Stage 6:

Anger: Whoever did this was obviously a right wing, Tea Party-affiliated, patriot, militant, white, religious, Republican, tax-protesting, NRA-loving gun nut.

Something else also-
How many times after the attack do you hear in the media something like this:

“Sources are telling us”

“An FBI official who spoke on condition af annonymity has said -—— because they are not allowed to speak about it.”

Are all of the sources and the info checked for accuracy or are these things that are being spewed out as fact not even true?

Also, If people within the FBI, State Department etc... are not supposed to talk about these things, then why are they doing so? Shouldn’t they be searched out and fired?

This was an isolated incident of lone wolf terrorism unconnected to anything that could possibly imply that the Obama administration had let down its guard or overlooked obvious signs of imminent attack by an international terrorist conspiracy.

I would like to point out the Boston attack was the first successful bombing on American soil since 9/11.

I don't know if anybody else remembers 9/12, but the universal assumption at the time was that we would have to accustom ourselves to an ongoing wave of attacks, even if less spectacular. As in multiple bombings per year, and possibly per month.

In actual fact, of course, we went more than 11.5 years before the next successful bombing.

Given that there are at minimum some tens of millions out there who want to blow us up, I think that's a pretty damn good record. And I am offended at those who slander those fighting off our attackers by claiming the only possible way an attack could have gotten through was because those defenders were incompetent or complicity.

A good chunk of the world wants us dead. It is unreasonable to expect that none of their attempts will get through.

The night of the bombing, I knew that the perpetrators were Muslim based upon the fact that the media and the Obama administration were not leaking that it was by a Timothy McVeigh type.

It was reinforced by the fact that when suspects were identified, their religion was not identified prominently if at all.

If the bombing was perpetrated by a TEA Party activist as was speculated because it happened on April 15, this would have been trumpeted by the media ad nauseum continuously ever since.

Bear in mind also that the media started going into the life-stories of the bombers right away.

Compare this to how the mass-murders in Newtown CT and Aurora CO were treated in the media. The difference being is that these were shootings, so the issue was gun-control rather than what sort of people were pulling the triggers.

In these cases, the shooters were victims, according to the Left, because they were forced to perpetrate these atrocities by the availability of firearms to the general public.

The bombers, on the otherhand, were motivated by justifiable outrage perpetrated by the United States’ unfair treatment of Muslims — according to the Left.

Notice how they drop the gender neutrality when it comes to anything bad. MAN-made tragedy, MAN-made climate change, mad MAN, hit MAN, etc. instead of something more PC like HUMAN-made tragedy. A Freudian slip? Or they assume we're too stooped and ignernt to notice the transparent attempt at subliminal MANipulation, no pun intended?

Yes, I knew the OKC bombing was not the work of muzzie terrorists the moment then AG Janet Reno said in an impromptu press conference just 1 hr later they will seek the death penalty. Until that point Reno was a staunch opponent of capital punishment, but quickly changed her tune the moment it was clear they were dealing with what they could manipulate as domestic right wing extremism. Morris Dees and the SPLC must've had multiple orgasms over the propaganda potential.

My liberal Mass. acquaintance went through roughly three phases:
1. Not a muslim because the Saudi was absolutely innocent
2. Hope it's a foreign terrorist because homegrown terrorists are much worse (?),
3. Complete silence.

Stage 6 - Blame- The bombing was obviously the fault of evil conservatives for taking away their welfare. How could two poor children from Chechnya be expected to integrate into the US? They should have been guaranteed welfare and food stamps and Medicaid and government housing for their whole lives.

I think I have actually heard this #6 being media tested by Libertards;

Stage 6 - Equivalence: Terroristic behavior in Islam is exactly like what the Southern Poverty Law Center sees happening in racist white conservative groups. Therefore this attack is the equivalent of an attack by right wingnuts, it is just that they did not choose to do it that day.

Oh, very good -- "This is just what conservatives would do if they could!" Yes, they always try to get 'round to us, but actually I think that's what they do with their early hoping-out-loud that a Tea Party person shot this person or bombed that venue.

They try to put it out early in the news cycle, to "get it out there" before the truth can catch up.

You ARE right. It’s disingenuous to get mad over 1 attack when we know so many want to do it. Especially lily when we know damn well of other plots that almost were successful.
