N.J. Gov. Christie looks to slim down with secret stomach surgery

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie underwent lap band surgery in February in hopes of losing some weight for his family — fueling additional speculation that he is trying to slim down for a 2016 presidential bid.

The New York Post reported Tuesday that Mr. Christie said his friends and family helped convinced him to have the operation and that the Republican decided to have the procedure after turning 50 years old in September.

“I’ve struggled with this issue for 20 years,” Mr. Christie told The Post. “For me, this is about turning 50 and looking at my children and wanting to be there for them.”

He should follow Coulter around and eat what she eats.

He makes this sound like a mid-life crisis deal...wonder if he's going to buy a red Corvette?

Say what you want about his politics but on this issue, I wish him only the best. He obviously struggles with his weight and for a lot of people, it isn’t simply a matter of eating better and exercising more. He realizes that he will die at a relatively young age if he doesn’t do something about his weight. I hope it works and then we can all criticize a slim Chris Christie.

More likely a Harley.

He’s running, and by running I mean for POTUS. There is no way that lard ass is physically running. Although I struggle with my weight, I manage to keep it down but it is not fun. I live for anything dark chocolate. That stated, I know three people who’ve had gastric bypass surgery and they’ve all gained back their weight and then some.

Agree with you here. I think he’s right on some things/wrong on some things, but I am glad to see he’s looking out for his health and that he can be there for his kids.

I wish him all the luck in the world on this count but the surgury is not magic bullet. I know three people who have doe this and they all put the weight back on in a few years. At 50 it is very difficult to lose weight of this magniture and keep it off. It takes a radical change in lifestyle and tremendous disipline. I’ve learned by experience there are no easy fixes and I only had to lose about 60-65 pounds.

Well I would never vote for the guy for President because he’s a terminal RINO but I hope he loses weight and gets healthier.

Ever how much weight he loses...there will still be too much of him, as far as I’m concerned.

wish him the very best. He, at times, is brilliant and I love how he can disarm most people in a debate.

He does join the RINO herd way too often though so lets hope that in addition to losing weight, he loses the RINO herd mentality.
