Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee took to the House floor Monday night and implied that the right to health care and education exists in the Constitution.
Ms. Jackson Lee, Texas Democrat, also made the case that the moral authority for such services is also derived from the Declaration of Independence.
One might argue that education and health care fall into those provisions of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, she said.

Sheila consistently proves herself to be the dumbest member of Congress, but Maxine Waters makes it close.
Constitution implies a right to health care, education
We have the right to pursue all sorts of stuff though it does not guarantee we receive it. The Only thing it implies is the right to life and liberty. And that doesn’t mean the government shall pay for anything that extends your life. It’s an “active vs passive” thing.
These peoople really make me ill sometimes, if only because people that should be laughed at as they loudly share their political views in a drunken stupor in a sleazy bar are actually our elected representatives. It is not very flattering of the intelligence and character of the voters who elect them.
Redpoll was the ONLY FReeper to pick up on it. Everyone else went along with what the idiot said.
Good question, I don’t know how to categorize dumb:)
Ah, that’s brilliant. Good job in editing the quote you replied to.
Shouldn’t the gub’mint also be providing me with arms I have the right to bear?
Whatta bout a car, Sheila, and one of dose big screen teevees? Howcome that Declaration thingy doesn’t cover tha otherstuff I need?
ROTFLOL
If you watch COPS in Houston you’ll get a good look at her constituency.
Good point.
I edited nothing. It was what my original reply was about.
Walking the face of the earth implies you have a brain too, but wshe proves otherwise.

The original post.
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are provisions in the Constitution? *sigh* And there will be millions out there who agree with her.
Your edited quote of that post.
And there will be millions out there who agree with her.
If we get all of the stupid people on DC to stand in one place perhaps it will fall into the Potomac.
Well, OK. I’ll concede to that. But when I read the original post, I thought that was the point redpoll was trying to make. I had already picked up on it and was looking to see if others had...and they had not.
What say you, redpoll?
I want a pony.
