Boy who held pencil like gun suspended
Fox 43 ^ | 5/7/2013 | Anne McNamara

A Suffolk school suspended a second grader for pointing a pencil at another student and making gun noises.

Seven-year-old Christopher Marshall says he was playing with another student in class Friday, when the teacher at Driver Elementary asked them to stop pointing pencils at each other.

"When I asked him about it, he said, 'Well I was being a Marine and the other guy was being a bad guy,'" said Paul Marshall, the boy's father. "It's as simple as that."

Christopher's father was a Marine for many years. He thinks school leaders overreacted.

"A pencil is a weapon when it is pointed at someone in a threatening way and gun noises are made," said Bethanne Bradshaw, a spokesperson for Suffolk Public Schools.

The Suffolk school system has a "zero tolerance policy" when it comes to weapons. And, Bradshaw admits, that policy has tightened up in recent years because of widely publicized school shootings.

"Some children would consider it threatening, who are scared about shootings in schools or shootings in the community," said Bradshaw. "Kids don't think about 'Cowboys and Indians' anymore, they think about drive-by shootings and murders and everything they see on television news every day."

But Christopher's parents say school administrators failed to use common sense. Christopher has good grades and no history of being disruptive in class. They pointed out a line on the suspension notice, where the teacher wrote, "I told him to stop and he did."

"Enough is enough," said Paul Marshall. "I see it as the tail is now wagging the dog."

And while Christopher can play freely at home, he says he won't pretend to play with guns at school in the future.

Bethanne Bradshaw with Suffolk Public Schools says both students were suspended for two days. The other student was also 7 years old.

According to school policy, suspensions can last up to 10 days. The school makes that determination based on the situation, the student's age and behavioral history.

SEE!!!

Guns don’t kill people, gun NOISES kill people!

Proposed ammendment to the gun ban....ban making gun noises with mouth or any other body part or combination thereof.

If he’d only stopped with the pencil, this could have ended peacefully.

Any time you see reference to a “zero tolerance policy”, you can automatically substitute “liberal, zero brains policy”.

How about some school ‘diversity’ - maybe half the teachers could be conservative - or at least have IQ’s above 102...

I just can’t understand why these parents don’t SUE

The kids have a right to have an education a
and to not have a mark on their record

I would sue the Teacher Personally, sue the principal personally, and sue the school board.

I couldnt care less about their stupid policy, it needs to be challenged in court

Someone needs to fight back against these Brainwashing Bullies and make them think twice

The parents need to find an Attorney who will sue the school district. Then put the school personnel on the witness stand and have each one of them describe the ammo cartridge that is loaded into the pencil, how and where the bullet projectile leaves the pencil, and at what muzzle velocity.

When they cannot answer the questions, asks the judge for a default judgement and 10 million dollars.

The school authorities are engaging in magical thinking.

The fact is, no matter how many noises are made, the pencil will never become a firearm!

Who let these phonies into the public school system? They should be in prison where they can't hurt anybody else.

Pop Tart “guns”, pencil “guns”, Hello Kitty bubble “guns”. . .what’s next? It’s time to send a message that this nonsense is going to be met with heavy resistance. I say these idiots should be sued and, if possible, they should lose their jobs. Hysterical and imbalanced people shouldn’t be in a position of responsibility, especially over kids.

Grinding America Down

There's a minute and a half promo at the start, but this is a long video you want to send to everyone who isn't yet convinced. This is the history of the roadmap that was created by the Fabians, the Marxists, the progressives, et al toward the destruction of America. It is on track, and has been successful beyond expectation! This is the video which explains the end of America, and what is in store. Can I say it plainer? Pass it around, if you wish. God bless.

If your child, grandchild are ever subjected to this type of situation, you might consider having the police come to the scene and perform a gunpowder residue test.

When/if they asks why, tell them this will be used as evidence in the lawsuit you will be filing for subjecting you child to punishment based on bias.

Bill Ayres has a hand in this. These reactions are occurring all over the country. School personnel have been told what to do. By Ayres and his ‘cohort’ who have ‘absolute access’ to the classroom.

I refer you to Postman and Weingarten: “Teaching as a Subversive Activity” (1970)

"'A pencil is a weapon when it is pointed at someone in a threatening way and gun noises are made,' said Bethanne Bradshaw, a spokesperson for Suffolk Public Schools."

So with her line of thinking, a weapon is a pencil when it is pointed at someone in a non-threatening way and writing noises are made.

pencil is a toy when pointed at another person while saying “pow, pow” or “bang, bang”.

It only means that toys are banned. The end goal is to grow - and in a very short time frame, like 10 years - a generation of men who cannot even *think* of guns. The 2A may remain the law, but it won't mean much if the majority of population does not want to use it. The population will disarm itself; at the same time the government gets more voters who want to ban guns, since they don't have them and don't know what they are.

The people implementing this policy are graduates of the school system they now administer. Graduates with advanced degrees, no less.

Leave your kids in this system and you’ll get kids too dumb to come in out of the rain, thoroughly conditioned to snap sloppily to attention when Big Brother speaks.

Yessir. Three bags full sir.

When I was a kid, marksmanship was taught at the high school. Junior high kids were bussed over for shooting lessons.

We have a whole neighborhood of little boys under the age of 12. Several 4 year olds were engaged in a shooting match last Sunday during our monthly pot luck. Asked one if they were playing Cowboys and Indians and he said “No ma’am, we’re playing Cops and Robbers. You probably don’t remember how because you’re not a boy.”

Some 6 and 7 year olds were also engaged in a gun battle but theirs was a military ambush since the mom of one of them was in the Army and just ended her enlistment this last year. Dad is still serving and is an MP. One of the 6 year olds came running over and announced their side had just defeated the Taliban.

The 11 and 12 year olds were all playing some version of Star Wars on their iPads.

The adults were drinking beer and eating BBQ and boiled crawfish.

Generational activities in a Texas neighborhood on Sunday afternoon.

This is ridiculous. Nothing like making adults look like idiots to kids. What a waste of time and energy.
