The debate over gun control is coming back to the Senate earlier than expected.
The Senate agreed on Tuesday evening to vote Wednesday afternoon on a pair of firearms-related amendments to the Water Resources Development Act filed by Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.)
I dont quite get why were voting on guns, but thats the Republicans desire, said the water bills floor manager, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.).
One amendment would repeal a gun prohibition on land under the jurisdiction of the Army Corps of Engineers. The other would require annual reports from federal agencies on ammunition and gun purchases as well as firearm thefts, excepting some national security arms of government.
A 2009 law repealed the gun ban in national parks and National Wildlife Refuge lands, but the corps has said it does not apply to corps projects. The corps manages 11.7 million acres, including hundreds of recreation areas and lakes. Coburns amendment would direct the corps to follow state gun laws on corps-managed land.
TOPICS: Constitution/Conservatism; Government; News/Current Events; Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: 10thamendment; banglist; coburn; guncontrol; secondamendment
The bill removes federal bans on guns for lands managed by the Army Corps of Engineers.
This is another rollback of federal gun law by Senator Coburn, if he can get it past the Senate. They might do it to show they are "pro gun" after the attempt to impose more gun control.

The USACE has considerable jurisdiction. Go to the official website for any maintained shipping waterway, lock, canal etc and you’ll get a USACE website.
Soo Locks

In fact, it raises some questions for me because they rebuilt the dam where I live and approvals to build docks and seawalls need USACE approvals.

I don’t quite get Barbara Boxer, to say that she is dumb as a rock is an insult to all rocks! How the hell the Democrats can keep electing such imbecilic and incompetent people is beyond me. Okay your politics are more in line with communism, can’t you still elect people with at least a minimum of intelligence to represent you?

Feinstein normally explains these things to Boxer with a box of crayons and sheets of butcher paper, but was busy having hysterics. Boxer apparently wandered away from her day care center.
