Did McCain not leave his first wife for the beer distributor heiress?

Why do we always end up having to vote for the lesser of two evils?...

I suspect it has something to do with the Fall of Man. Jesus never runs for office, and as the Scriptures tell us, in speaking of Him: "No man liveth and sinneth not, and Thou only art beyond sin."

I don't know anything about Sanford's primary opponents, but he's a natural politician--handsome, gregarious, good at interacting with people at political events. The mystery in 2008 (before we knew about the Argentinian mistress) was why he wasn't a finalist for the VP spot.

If all the men in Congress who have never had an extramarital affair shun him, he'll still have lots of friends.

When Bob Dole first ran for office and was an unknown, he had campaign events where people were served Dole pineapple juice in Dixie cups.

Colbert's sister could have built up her name recognition by serving Busch beer at campaign events...but apparently she doesn't like interacting with the public very much.

Colbert the so called comedian is one vile POS. SC voters saw that, and voted accordingly.

The founder of the Democratic Party “married” a woman who was still married to her first husband at the time...so adultery has a venerable history in the party.

If more crap gets deposited at the door of the tribal chief’s White Hut doorstep he, and his nitwit, may have to abdicate.

The story isn’t that Sanford beat Colbert. It’s that he won the Republican primary. Were his competitors child molesters, murderers, and on welfare? He represents the best that South Carolina has to give?

Republicans have in the past been quick to throw their politicians under the bus when there was an incident such as Sanford’s adultery.

<><><><

Perhaps that has something to do with the fact that the GOP platform includes a section on preserving and protecting traditional marriage. It used to be important to the GOP.

Sanford’s primary opponents were largely second-tier and desultory. The fella who faced him in the runoff, Bostic, was a local Councilman and wasn’t seen as strong (and on fiscal issues, was more liberal - not a good thing).

So, if Sanford is good enough based on the issues pointed out, to you, and the people who voted for him, then the folks who voted for him and yourself, should never again complain about another candidate or elected official based on morality or on how they are serving their constituency.

Somehow I doubt that will be the case.

Well, there’s always those much worse than Sanford.

The Clinton duo comes to mind.

I suggest we watch Sanford and how he handles the issues important to us before we tar and feather him.

So morality matters when they vote like you vote, otherwise thay are worthless filth.

Sanford is Clinton with an R after his name.

That’s not what I said or implied. I’m saying that if this constituency wanted a candidate without Sanford’s moral failings, they should’ve recruited a top-tier candidate. Simply, even a flawed Sanford is better than a lot of supposedly non-flawed candidates.

For the record, I gave a tepid endorsement of Bostic in the runoff, if only because I believed Sanford’s problems would overwhelm him in the general. It turned out I was wrong in that assessment.

"Sanford is Clinton with an R after his name."

Mark Sanford never raped a campaign staffer. He didn't systematically abuse his authority in office to molest and sodomize young women and have countless affairs. He also didn't commit numerous crimes to personally enrich himself, his wife and close cronies. Mark Sanford didn't get in bed with foreign nationals or hostile governments and do personal favors and sell them secrets for campaign donations.

The only thing Mark Sanford is guilty of is falling in love with another women who was not his wife and attempting to conceal it. No one is going to argue it was wrong or that it was poor judgment on his part. But to compare him to Clinton across the board is simply wrong. I do believe Sanford is a moral and ethical man with a love of country who had a singular failing. Clinton, however, never was a moral or ethical man, and viewed such things as a hindrance to satisfying his lustful appetites and to rising to the highest office in the land. The difference between the two could not be more stark.

Right, Sanford had a singular failing. Believe that if it makes you feel better. What a great guy. I wonder if his ex and kids feel the same way. While supposedly governing he was out banging a woman other than his wife. I wonder where the money for his trips came from.

Clinton was a bum but what staffer did he rape?

You’ve been here 14 years and you’ve never heard of Juanita Broaddrick ? As I said, there is no comparison between Sanford and Clinton.

Yeah he had a mistress, BFD. I have bigger fish to fry like keeping communists like Lizzy Colbert Busch out of Congress. Is that much much more important to me than an individual's sexual failings? You're damned right it is. It's not even a contest.

You want to compare that to Bill Clinton? Bill Clinton who has been linked to COUNTLESS affairs? Bill Clinton who was getting head from Monica while on the phone with members of Congress? Bill Clinton who unquestionably committed perjury?

Bill Clinton who RAPED Juanita Broderick? Who RAPED then Miss Arkansas Elizabeth Ward Gracen? (google it). And those are the 2 we know about, there could be many more.

Who committed TREASON by taking campaign cash from the Chi coms? Who possibly leaked nuclear secrets in return? Who gave away the Panama Canal? Who LET BIN LADEN GET AWAY? Who forced through Congress a huge tax increase? Who tried to socialize medicine while Obama was still a community organizer? Who signed the Brady Bill in violation of the US Constitution?

Bill Clinton who may have had his friends Vince Foster and Jim McDougal MURDERED?

Here's what Sanford did, he used public money to visit his GF and told people he went hiking when he was going to the airport. He paid an ethics settlement in lieu of facing charges of financial misconduct. I agree with that was totally not cool, but hardly unforgivable in the grand scheme of things. Like it or not the people of the district, the people that know him best, chose him over those others that ran. He was a conservative congressman and the 2nd best Governor the state has had after Carrol Campbell. I guess that's what mattered to them. Bill Clinton gave money to the UN to use for third world abortions and the taxpayers never got it back. You want to equate these things? You want to equate these 2 men? Really?

Bill Clinton is a criminal who belongs behind bars for life. A traitor, who did permanent damage as President with various actions both legal and illegal. The piece of FILTH that opposed Sanford this past Tuesday is in the same party as Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Harry Reid. In my opinion that made supporting conservative Republican Sanford in that GENERAL ELECTION a moral IMPERATIVE.

Compare Sanford to Anthony Weiner if you want, but don't you DARE compare him to Bill Clinton. Get some freaking perspective and choose your words more carefully. You should be embarrassed with yourself.
