(Newser) – A chilling possibility in the Cleveland kidnapping case: Fox 8 spoke to law enforcement sources, and one of them says Michelle Knight told police that there was a fourth woman in Ariel Castro's house when she was first taken there, but that the woman vanished one day. Written on a basement wall is a female name and the words, "Rest in Peace," but police don't know if that's related to the case yet. However, Cleveland's safety director announced this morning that no human remains have been found at Castro's home after a thorough search, NewsNet 5 reports.
Meanwhile, the parents of another teen who went missing from the same neighborhood in 2007 are still hoping there's a connection between the cases. "At first, when they said the third girl wasn't identified, I was hoping one would be Ashley," Ashley Summers' aunt tells CNN. It wasn't, but "we're hoping for a miracle," the aunt says. Investigators are planning to ask Knight, Amanda Berry, and Gina DeJesus if they know anything about Summers. Other developments:

I think the real question most everyone really wants to know is “Was the neighbor also the same guy from New Orleans who was wading through the flooded streets with a box of beer?”

I hate this story. It makes my hair stand up on the back of my neck. Torture this a-holes. And do it right now, and let the victims see it. They deserve their justice.
I wondered that. When I first saw the story there was a map that showed 4 women missing, I believe. It was also stated some dirt in the backyard had appeared to have been moved.
I disagree because those three aren’t worth the time or effort. I can think of only one way to take care of a rabid animal...

The real reason why courts exist is to protect men like this. Otherwise they’d be dragged from their house, beat up, and then either lynched or set aflame.
The one question I have yet to see asked by anyone in the Media is....were any or all of the Castro brothers in this country illegally?
OKAY you got me laughing out loud. My work buddy wonders what is wrong with me. I said to the Mr. last night, that the guy looked just like that NOLA guy from the hurricane flood pictures.

I saw the video again of the guy that helped get the first girl out of the house, and it suddenly struck me that he said that she said “there are three other girls in the house”???? Did I mishear, or did anyone else catch this?

She was probably referring to the two other kidnap victims, and the 6-year-old (IIRC) girl who appears to be her daughter.
They are Puerto Rican....US citizens already....not illegals
I smile every time I see him. Early yesterday, they had a video of him saying you know something is wrong when a little white woman comes running into a blackman’s arms. Hmm, wonder why they haven’t aired it since...
Just saw the map again. There were only 3 women on it.
