House Armed Service chair denied access to Benghazi files
Hot Air ^ | May 9, 2013 | Ed Morrissey

One question left mainly unaddressed by yesterday’s hearing on Benghazi — and by others, as well — is the lack of preparation by the Obama administration and the US military for the potential for attack in Benghazi. After all, terrorist attacks had been increasing steadily since the fall of the Qaddafi regime in 2011. Other Western nations had already withdrawn from Benghazi due to the security risks in the region, specifically from the radical Islamist terror networks able to operate freely in eastern Libya because of the removal of Qaddafi. Our own State Department personnel in Libya repeatedly warned Washington about the threat.

Put all of that together with the approach of the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, and lights should have been flashing red across the board regarding our outpost in Benghazi. Instead, the White House, State Department, and Pentagon have repeatedly claimed for months that the US had no assets in place to respond quickly to an attack, even though anyone with a calendar could have pointed out the risk. One might wonder why the Pentagon didn’t connect those dots on its own, and that seems like a good question for the two Congressional committees overseeing the Department of Defense.

House Armed Services Chair Buck McKeon agrees. The Pentagon apparently does not, not even to the limited extent of its response to the actual attack:

Pentagon officials have denied a request from a House Republican chairman for access to documents on last year’s terrorist attack in Benghazi.

“I am deeply disappointed in the Department’s response and am committed to continuing the Armed Services Committee’s oversight into the tragedy at Benghazi,” House Armed Services Committee chief Rep. Buck McKeon (R-Calif.) said in a statement Wednesday.....

“he knew people were dying and under attack and he did NOTHING, he passed it onto others, and still we have no idea about who was in the situation room...”

Yes he did nothing wrt Benhazi. But it’s worse. He did do something. He immediately went to a fund-raiser. That is what infuriates me. I want an accounting of exactly what Obozo did and when.

If I didn’t know better...

The rearranging of generals, admirals, the Muslim Brotherhood in high places and the purchasing of high ammo, tanks, etc... that we were set for a so called mil coup, followed by permanent king O, who will then purge the mils and give us over to sharia.

tin foil hat off/

You can’t attack fellow muslims. But then he’s about to triple the troop deaths in AfPak.

“The department has made every effort to provide the committee a comprehensive understanding of [its] actions” in Benghazi, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs Elizabeth King

Seems that every time a statement comes out of the Pentagon lately it comes from someone of the female persuasion.

I've been noticing this for the past 3 weeks or so. Then there is the latest "sexual assault" allegations from the DOD and panel headed up by Moochelle and Jarrett in the White House.

They refuse to use it so I can only believe they are complicit in Obama’s abuses of power.

DC runs on an elaborate web of blackmail and arm-twisting that makes "Game of Thrones" look like Sunday school bickering.

Republicans, apparently, have plenty they need to keep hidden. The Left can't be defeated by compromised men, no matter how experienced and articulate.

If you look at this from an outsider’s perspective, it is completely believable that 0bama is an al Qaeda imam.

He may well be the peron on AF1, buzzing Manhattan in 2009. Call it a victory lap. It is.

That to me is the most disgusting acts this man has done, he knew people were dying and under attack and he did NOTHING, he passed it onto others, and still we have no idea about who was in the situation room, who gave that stand down order, who made up the lies and why did he lie about it after plus why did he go to Vegas knowing it as a terrorist attack.

Agreed. But let's not forget that he has others just as complicit and willing to sacrifice folks who are on their side to stay politically sound. What do you think they would do when folks from the other side get in the way? They are capable of genocide and wouldn't lose a minute's sleep.

totally agree.

He and his radical let over hippe 60’s radical communists have got away with far too much, the media has been absent, the low info voters just don’t care unless the media tells them to care.

We have this admin now saying it’s spouse 1 and 2 instead of mother, we had guns going to Mexican drug lords, we have people dying, people being spied on, money being spent and lies like Pelosi of how she can’t go to see the troops this weekend due to cuts.

I am so sick of it that I have to speak up at every chance now when I am out.

You can bet your ass that the minute it becomes fesible[sp?] for them to they will order the extermination of their political enemies and also those who they believe will pose a threat to them in the future.
