House Armed Service chair denied access to Benghazi files

One question left mainly unaddressed by yesterday’s hearing on Benghazi — and by others, as well — is the lack of preparation by the Obama administration and the US military for the potential for attack in Benghazi. After all, terrorist attacks had been increasing steadily since the fall of the Qaddafi regime in 2011. Other Western nations had already withdrawn from Benghazi due to the security risks in the region, specifically from the radical Islamist terror networks able to operate freely in eastern Libya because of the removal of Qaddafi. Our own State Department personnel in Libya repeatedly warned Washington about the threat.

Put all of that together with the approach of the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, and lights should have been flashing red across the board regarding our outpost in Benghazi. Instead, the White House, State Department, and Pentagon have repeatedly claimed for months that the US had no assets in place to respond quickly to an attack, even though anyone with a calendar could have pointed out the risk. One might wonder why the Pentagon didn’t connect those dots on its own, and that seems like a good question for the two Congressional committees overseeing the Department of Defense.

House Armed Services Chair Buck McKeon agrees. The Pentagon apparently does not, not even to the limited extent of its response to the actual attack:

Pentagon officials have denied a request from a House Republican chairman for access to documents on last year’s terrorist attack in Benghazi.

“I am deeply disappointed in the Department’s response and am committed to continuing the Armed Services Committee’s oversight into the tragedy at Benghazi,” House Armed Services Committee chief Rep. Buck McKeon (R-Calif.) said in a statement Wednesday.....

Congress has and has always HAD the power to gain compliance from the Admin through the power of the purse. They refuse to use it so I can only believe they are complicit in Obama’s abuses of power.

The undocumented Tyrant has made the US a servant
to the Moslem Brotherhood around the world.
He has used patriots as fodder for Islam
and THEY WILL NOT BE EXPOSED by dhimmi Congress.

” Congress has and has always HAD the power to gain compliance from the Admin through the power of the purse. “

Congress will say and do nothing.

Elijah Cummings quoted a couple of Obama’s loyalist generals yesterday to “disprove” the testimony that he didn’t like. (Or maybe it was one general and one other official with an impressive-sounding title.) Good enough to tell the people “nothing to see here.”

As CIC, Zero has the overall responsibility. The military had some good folks who wanted to be prepared, and who were prepared enough despite the traitor in the WH keeping them in the dark and preventing them from doing what they do...

An anniversary of 9/11 and the US Military did not have resources to defend embassies from bases in the Mediterrean area? Somebody goofed up big time -- or many people did.

Where was the CIA?

Why didn't the US Navy have a Carrier Task Force in the Mediterrean from 9/8 to 9/15? They could have had shore leave in the Mediterrean for the sailors.

Why didn't the US Air Force have tanker aircraft available to support fighters from NATO bases?

It’s part of the political apparatchik which includes the DOJ, the EPA, the ministry of truth (aka the MSM), etc.

I guess all the lapses on 9/11/2012 have to go back to the C-in-C.

I guess O-bozo is trying to set a record for how many holes of golf he can play while pretending to be president.

when in formed of the attack and Americans dying this fairy oy spoke with his security advisor for a couple of minutes , never went to the situation room and went to bed because he had to go to Vegas the next day to carry on with his election campaign.

That to me is the most disgusting acts this man has done, he knew people were dying and under attack and he did NOTHING, he passed it onto others, and still we have no idea about who was in the situation room, who gave that stand down order, who made up the lies and why did he lie about it after plus why did he go to Vegas knowing it as a terrorist attack.

Yet Bush when informed of the attack he sat there, calmly got up, excused himself and dealt with the situation.
Yet he got attacked like mad, just like Katrina which was the states fault and the chocolate mayor

so now branches of Govt are not privy to info about the security of the country , our house remains closed, Americans died, guns went to gun lords, illegals let free and exactly why is Holder, Janet have not a clue and bozo the clown still in power?

Oh I guess the media does not think the man who started his politics in a terrorists house, never done a days work, came out of nowhere, has even caught lying a lot is not news worthy, guess attacking Sarah and Cruz and lying about them and their actions is ore news worthy to the corrupt media

So long as "the power of the purse" is rendered impotent by the absence of a budget and, thus, the auto-pilot of the Current Services Baseline, the House can only rely on the courts to compel cooperation from the Executive Departments.

At some point, Boehner and the House leadership are going to have to be prepared to shut down the government -- or they will become irrelevant to the conduct of Constitutional government.

It's a tough argument to make -- that, in order to get some files from the DOD, we have to shut-down the government. But, at some point, they're going to have to do it.

If they had any sense of leadership, I think it would be easy. They should tale a tip from Palin...

Avoid the MSM entirely
Develop a list of the most blatant abuses (lack of budget, refusal to provide docs over Benghazi/FF etc.) and go straight to YouTube/Twitter/social media.
Do NOT back off/debate/make excuses
Tell people Government is shut down until either the admin complies or the USSC rules that Congress has no constitutional authority to enforce it’s demands.

And if people do not agree, then we simply are not in America/the country that was America no longer exists.
