When they want you they will get you...unless there isn’t a law at which point they will make a law so that they can, then, get you.

And how can this possible be enforced? Require the printer to have an internet connection and send the design to some central location for permission to print it?
...
first thing to print with my 3D printer: another [unsecured] printer.

I knew it was either California or New York.

That sounds an awful lot like Ex Post Facto law to me... what does my cook friend think?

Won’t be long before they will require a background check if you want to exercise your common sense.

They are scared to death and desperate to do something about this technology because they know fear is the only tool they have left. There is nothing to stop someone from printing these guns right now and they know it.

So now Office Depot will require a three day waiting period to buy a printer.

Maybe someone should find a lot of a couple thousand SD cards that is 32MB and load the file on them and hand them out like candy at the local gunshow.

Yea, let’s see how that works out.

3D printers are out there and they are being replicated by 3D printers at an alarming rate. Most of the non ‘printable’ parts are generic stuff that can be scavenged from other things or bought individually except the controller and I’m sure that won’t take long for someone to find a way to open-source that too.

The raw material is just plastic.

Good luck with that law.

A disk would be cheaper. You can get them for pennies each.

Let me guess; Leeland Yee is a democrat a-hole.

For those that don't know Leland Yee he is a local variation of Chuck Schumer ie: don't ever come between him and a camera LOL. He should stick to things he understands such as suntan oil. Those who know State Senator Yee will understand what I am talking about.

See how State Sen. Leland Yee skipped right on by the need to heavily regulate unlicensed use of the far more dangerous PRESSURE COOKERS.

This guy is just a fascist phoney doing the bidding of his totalitarian masters abroad.
