It was a distant cousin whom I know about only because of genealogical research. I have one distant cousin who died as a Confederate prisoner of war at Camp Chase, Ohio. Another distant cousin was a Union soldier who died of his wounds in 1864 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. I had two direct ancestors who were in the Civil War, one on each side, but both survived and lived for many years after the war. The Civil War is a fascinating subject in its own right but I think it can add to the interest if you know how it affected one of your relatives.
For sure! I have a bunch of paperwork done on direct ancestors in every battle going all the way back to the revolution, but have never done a lot of research on their lives. I should one of these days. You have inspired me.

I spit (mentally) every time I pass by the huge mosque they’ve built next to the highway in Jacksonville (FL).
However, I’m glad at least that the freaks didn’t get to bury him in Arlington. They should simply have cremated the body and dumped the ashes in some unknown place. It’s going to become an Islamic shrine now.
