Has anyone mentioned to these idiots that lead is a natural occurring mineral in nature?
What next? Are they going to ban all surface lead deposits in the United States?
Where are they finding ANY ammo to ban?
I certainly can’t find any—and neither can anyone else I know.
It’s out there. Too bad you would have to take out a 2nd on your house to buy any. Or maybe a title loan against your truck.
The people of California need to get a proposition on the ballot that bans all politicians there from possessing money. Money causes politicians to become dishonest and corrupt. This corruption eventually hurts the people of California by costing them billions each year in taxes. Just another good idea.
So now all that will be available will be armor piercing?
If they amended it to say “Any public Servant, Public official, Public Employee found in possession of ANY Lead Based Ammunition SHALL be Guilty of a Felony punishable by not less than 20 years in State Prison” Then I would support it.
We need this law to pass.
Something so ridiculous that SCOTUS is forced to back up its own recent opinions on the 2A.

We (Second Amendment Sisters) have a ladies learn to shoot event coming up soon in central TX, and we are searching for several calibers—namely 9’s and 38’s. So far, we’re not finding any.

I guess I’ll have to resort to tungsten and depleted uraniun rounds now. Be careful what you ask for, because the alternatives are far worse than the original problem. Besides, I doubt all of the illegals in Kalifornia will become enviromentally sensitive, and turn in their car batteries and lead rounds.

It doesn’t need to actually lose to get knocked down in the Assembly. The “Rule of 41” requires 41 yes votes for anything to pass. They can have a vote that goes 40-0 and the bill would still fail. We just need enough rural Democrats to go and take a bathroom break at the right moment to stop this. Conversely, we also need to make sure that some idiot Republican doesn’t succomb to an urge to be “bipartisan”. The ‘pubies all need to be encouraged to vote no or take a powder when the vote is taken.

The study that started all of this was Church et al. They claimed that isotopic analysis proved that lead in condors in the wild was coming from ammunition. Their data showed a shift in the isotopic ratios from one narrow range (found in the meat used to feed the birds at zoo facilities) to another narrow range. They claimed that this 2nd narrow range of ratios matched the ratios they found in lead ammo. The problem is that they sampled only a handful of the ammo brands that are used by California hunters. In reality, lead isotope ratios from ammo cover a broad range, not a narrow one. Were the lead coming from ammo, the isotopic ratios they measured from birds in the wild would have covered a broad range. The fact that they found a narrow one contradicts their hypothesis. So in fact, Church proved that the lead isn't coming from ammo!
The real threat to these birds was the loss of the continent's Pleistocene megafauna. They're designed to eat things like dead mammouths. Once the North American megafauna species were gone, the condors started to decline. The process has reached the point where their extinction is impossible to stop. There isn't enough genetic diversity left in the remaining population for it to last.

Yes, the "non-toxic" alternatives would be considered armor piercing under Federal and California law. So of course, they would have to be banned too. They're also more toxic to wildlife and would have to be banned on that account as well. Mash here for more info on the toxicity of "non-toxic" ammo.
