Network Axes Fall Hard on Gay Characters

It's been a rough end to what started out as a record-breaking season for openly gay characters on the small screen.

After a 2012-13 season that featured a record number of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender characters on TV, this past week's wave of cancellations may drastically alter those statistics.

Gone are shows that featured prominent gay story lines including NBC's The New Normal and CBS' Partners. Both were semi-autobiographical series about the lives of its nearly all openly gay creators -- Ryan Murphy and Ali Adler on the former, David Kohan (who's not) and Max Mutchnik for the latter -- and featured two happy, committed gay couples. Worth noting, half of both couples were played by openly gay actors -- New Normal's Andrew Rannells (opposite Justin Bartha) and Partners' Michael Urie (opposite Brandon Routh).

"God didn’t make those choices, they did...and Satan helped."

Not surprisingly, you are responding to things I didn't say. My reference to God, was that He lovingly gave me my family. I didn't say anything about THEIR personal choices, as you mistakenly infer, and I didn't say that 'God made them gay.'

"Next thing you’ll be telling me is they’re not a bunch of atheists."

You flatter yourself by assuming that I find your comments worth any more of my time.

Have a nice, hate-filled day.

Check out “Blue Bloods” with Tom Selleck on Friday nights on CBS. The closing scene is quite often a Sunday dinner, complete with grace being said.

It seems that Ratings trumps Ideology.

My prediction came true. I predicted that the new abnormal would bomb and be canceled.
Don’t worry, feminazis, there are still a lot of shows that mock normal people and hold up the gay character as a model of shining virtue, intellect and rectitude.

“Looks like the fags took a hit...”

Gays make up 3% of the private sector.

They’ve already been promoting polygamy. I worry that is the next cause.

On the other hand, they may be dropping gay shows because maybe the gay thing has played itself out in terms of ratings and no one watches it anymore. These things do run their course.

In the end shows do have to make money. I think.

The last 4+ years have seen a transformation regarding television coverage of fags.
They put WAY too many programs out including this abnormality, and the result has been a drop in viewership.
People have had enough. Now they download movies, and use the Internet for their information and entertainment .
This manufactured trend has even appeared in regional news. Of the four local news stations in DFW, three have gone to the one female lead and one gay male in their morning news cycle rotation. So by that tidbit we are to believe what, that 66% or is it only 50% of the views are gay?
One even has hit the trifecta with a gay black male and a lesbian female news reader! Wow, demographics must be correct, it’s the NEWS after all./S

I love some of the shows on HGTV but their overuse of homosexuals really turns me off. I believe the hiring of SOME homos leads to the hiring of MORE homos, simply because they are touted by the homos already hired. So especially tired of seeing house hunting and house renovations for homos and lesbians. To watch HGTV one would think at least 40 % of the population is homo or lesbian. Does anyone else feel like this about HGTV?

In a normal day, I have not one thought about homos. I just want them OUT OF MY FACE already.vaudine

My view:

A person that truly loves his family will not accept their sins but will try to show the sinner ,be he homosexual or a thief or whatever, how to change.

Rob Portman plummettred in my estimation with his change and acceptance of homosexual behavior when huis own son revealed that he,too, was engaged in such disgusting,un-natural practices.

Accepting deviancy and other bad behavior is as wrong as the behavior itself.Sort of like the accomplice who didn’t pull the trigger but drove the getaway car, etc. Enabling evil by approval and acceptance sure won’t reduce the amount of it.

Really abortion, homosexuality, and atheism have in common the meme that there are no consequences ,just do whatever feels good at the moment.

Gave up on networks long ago. First the “news” over 20 yrs ago, then shortly thereafter, the network shows. This crap just accelerates the exodus.

Understand, the LIV and youth are being told that your view is one of hate and intolerance. Over and over. They are told that such opinions are equivant to racial attitudes before the civil rights movement. They believe that acceptance of homosexuals is equivalent to acceptance of people of color.

I weep for the future.

Accepting deviancy and other bad behavior is as wrong as the behavior itself.

Exactly. In fact, the analogy to what the other poster claimed would be more like:

>>I would guess that most of us have friends or family who are white-slavers, and we love and accept them.<<
