Grassley: Baucus Retiring Because He’s ‘Fed Up’ With Obamacare
National Review ^ | 5/10/2013 | Eliana Johnson

Democratic senator Max Baucus is retiring because he is “fed up” with the Affordable Care Act, according to his Republican colleague Chuck Grassley. Speaking at Friday night’s Lincoln Day dinner in Iowa, Grassley told the audience the Montana senator is leaving office ”because he’s so fed up with the possibility of the implementation of Obamacare being a train wreck.”

Baucus, the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, played a key role in writing the 2010 law.

Grassley said that dissatisfaction with the health-care bill exists across party lines, describing a “bipartisan coalition in Washington” that considers the implementation of the law a disaster. “It’s a shame that a trainwreck even left the station a couple years ago,” he added, referring to Baucus’s now-infamous statement of frustration.

The 79-year-old Iowa senator also used his remarks to inveigh against the Gang of Eight’s immigration bill. A member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Grassley has been one of the most outspoken opponents of the legislation. Referring to the 1986 immigration act signed into law by President Reagan, which legalized millions of illegal immigrants, he said, ”I want you to know that we screwed up in 1986.”

He concluded, “Today, we have 11 million people who came into our country illegally. The lesson learned: You reward illegality, you get more of it.”

“Baucus, like every other liberal, will never say Obamacare is a bad law, but that it was not implemented by the right people and that it did not have enough funding.”

Reminds me of something I’ve heard in the past. “Sure Hitler was evil and a mass murderer but he had the right idea. He just went about it the wrong way.” Or words to that effect.

“Once they discover how much they have to pay for it, and how much more difficult it is to get healthcare, there will be political consequences galore.”

The Republicans will suffer the political consequences. The Dems and their media mouthpieces will blame inadequate funding due to the Republicans failing to tax the rich. The sheeple will believe the lie and continue to vote for more government. Unless of course the Republicans will stop being willing accomplices and man up.

Did he vote for it?

Yes, but he only voted for it so he could see what's in it.

“The sheeple will believe the lie...”

That is the crux of the matter. The pubs could run around in their under drawers shouting the truth and it won’t make a whit of difference as long as the media continues to peddle carp and the people believe it.

Baucus’ big complaint has not been with the bill itself, rather with the implementation of it, which is what he has characterized as a ‘train wreck.’

Baucus is weaseling.

The implementation is part of what he voted for and contributed to. Too darn bad that he didn't think things all the way thru.

And as stated upthread...when the loyal minions discover that it ain't free for most people and they will be penalized for not having insurance...or worse yet their employer cuts them to part-time to avoid the benefit..all hell might very well break loose.

That, imho, is why he is fleeing his position and probably moving to Costa Rico.
