The Benghazi decisions
Chicago Tribune ^ | 13 may 2013

Posted on 05/13/2013 6:08:42 AM PDT by rellimpank

"A new tower rises above the New York skyline, al-Qaida is on the path to defeat, and Osama bin Laden is dead."

—President Barack Obama to the Democratic National Convention, Sept. 6, 2012.

Five nights after that speech, scores of attackers struck an ill-secured compound in the Libyan city of Benghazi. By morning they had killed four Americans: security agents Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, information officer Sean Smith, and J. Christopher Stevens, Washington's ambassador to that convulsing nation. U.S. presidential politics instantly intervened, with Republican Mitt Romney declaring, "The Obama administration's first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic mission, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks."

Eight months later, fresh evidence suggests that with the election imminent, the administration, too, had a political agenda: to avoid acknowledging a successful terrorist assault on an underprotected U.S. outpost on the anniversary of 9/11. As ABC News documented Friday, the final (and at least 12th) version of Central Intelligence Agency talking points developed after the onslaught no longer included any mention of al-Qaida allies as participants.

In the whole pathetic calculation, the administration never contemplated, never imagined, the heroism of Woods and Doherty. It never occurred to them because because they have no capacity to comprehend courage.

The Obama administrations first response... was to stand down.

Navy SEALs don’t obey “stand down” orders if it means abandoning Americans under fire.

Obama and Hillary Clinton just don’t get that at all. They would abandon their own mothers for another year in power.

Yep - at all cost do not include the FEST (Foreign Emergency support team) team, whose sole mission is response to events exactly like this one.

Why would that team/capability be immediately ruled out, without even talking to its commander?

The head of the counter terrorism unit was only included in deliberations after the decisions were made. (above the FEST team commander in the chain of command)

The FEST team commander was never consulted - only told that his unit would NOT be involved, as he was pressing to make the rescue/deploy.

"The Obama administrations first response... was to stand down."

The White House had to stand down, the election depended on it. "Osama bin Laden is dead", "al-Qaida is decimated", "the war on terror is nearly won".

Obama had his "mission accomplished" moment and could not admit that it had all blown up in his face. So instead of a terrorist attack we have a protest gone bad and you do not send the US Military into another nation over a protest gone bad. Checkmate, no outside US help for Benghazi. Oh and throw the Libyan president under the bus too.

Obama would abandon his own grandmother for far less. She was in his words just "a typical white woman". Obama is on the same moral level as that disgusting animal in Cleveland who kidnapped Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight for a decade - nothing matters other than getting what he wants by any means necessary.

Good morning.

They (0bama and clinton) would abandon their own mothers (on Mothers Day) for another year in power.

0bama and clinton have killed more people than Nixon ever did. From Mexico to Libya, they have left a trail of death.

These are different people. Hillary Clinton, Obama etc. They’re not like the rest of us. “Well, what does that mean?” Simply put in your post. They cannot comprehend valor, courage or Americanism. They view ALL THINGS in terms of politics.

But there is something more. These are unhappy people. They think in terms that are vastly different from the rest of us.

I’ve posted this thought many times. I’ll post it again:

Obama and people like Hillary Clinton, are pure and simply two bit politicians who over time will bbe revealed as such. As they become tested, they will continually fail. We’re seeing that now, IN ALMOST EVERY ENDEAVOR.

They are too numerous to mention, but one is far past the point of waking up, and wondering, “What will today bring? What new revelation about this administration?” I turned the TV off months and months ago.

It’s only a matter of time. I’m beginning to think, Huckabee might be right.

Some folks here called Friday’s news from abc a typical weekend document dump. Well, here we are on Monday and the thing has not gone away.

White House "talking points" to the various media outlets, seem to translate into, "it is understandable for the State Department and various people at the White House, to chose a defensive posture because if the election!

What, leave a small group on the ground in an enemy stronghold because it hadn't been fortified before that, because..........".we've got an election to think of in a few weeks and those mean Republicans might make an issue of it during a campaign, not to mention, I've got a fundraiser in Las Vegas tomorrow and can't be off my game!"

Shame on media for grabbing at straws, pretending the deaths of four Americans left to die in the desert, is acceptable because of, what, a potential Obama LOSS?

SHAME Upon the US Media!!!

Did hell freeze over?

This talk of impeachment is just grandstanding. However, it is nice to hear. Not only does Boner not have the balls to bring up articles of impeachment against the first black president, we do NOT have the votes in the Senate to conduct a trial. That is what people do not understand.

The most we can hope to get out of this tragedy is to cripple Obama for the remainder of his term and keep HILLARY out of the White House forever.

The house will vote to impeach. The senate has many red state democrats who, if up against a wall of evidence, might flip. Who wants to side with people who did NOTHING while people died. Add to that IRS scandal, coming back to life the Seal Team Six families upset at why normal safety protocols were ignored and why muslim cleric invited to funeral and damned them at funeral. Also ICE Agent Tells Mark Levin: Obama ‘Inflating’ Deportation Numbers, La Raza ‘Running Our Agency.......we could go on and on. Even some dems are sick of obama throwing them under the bus for his political gain.

SHAME Upon the US Media!!!

Shame? That's nothing. The amoral dirtbags have no capacity for shame...they deserve CONTEMPT!

Big City Freepers should picket the newspaper offices and broadcast studios with harshly worded accusations.

Billboards need to go up accusing the "media" of their blatant anti-American bilge.
