Govt obtains wide AP phone records in probe

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department secretly obtained two months of telephone records of reporters and editors for The Associated Press in what the news cooperative's top executive called a "massive and unprecedented intrusion" into how news organizations gather the news.

The records obtained by the Justice Department listed incoming and outgoing calls, and the duration of each call, for the work and personal phone numbers of individual reporters, general AP office numbers in New York, Washington and Hartford, Conn., and the main number for AP reporters in the House of Representatives press gallery, according to attorneys for the AP.

In all, the government seized those records for more than 20 separate telephone lines assigned to AP and its journalists in April and May of 2012. The exact number of journalists who used the phone lines during that period is unknown but more than 100 journalists work in the offices whose phone records were targeted on a wide array of stories about government and other matters.

The Obama administration has aggressively investigated disclosures of classified information to the media and has brought six cases against people suspected of leaking classified information, more than under all previous presidents combined.

So what is the AP going to do about it?

What will Holder do with this?

The AP is almost always on the side of the Marxist.

I doubt it. Protecting Democrats is a reflex for them.

“Now, the AP is finding out who Obama really is.

I wonder if they will keep protecting him.”

Odd, I knew who Obama really is by listening to his campaign speeches in 2008. Nothing has really changed.

I don’t see what the big deal is. My employers have always reserved the right to monitor my email and internet usage at work. The Obama administration is just doing the same thing with their employees at AP.

The question is: which tidbit of information was not supposed to get out? The administration must want to find the leak pretty bad to pull this stunt.

” The AP is almost always on the side of the Marxist.”

Obama is starting to make serious blunders. Throwing the CIA under the bus, now AP. I guess he really DOES think he’s invinceable.

I’m sure the AP agreed, they must have some “rogue” reporters that they want ousted, but fear lawsuits.

You can rest assure, that those investigations will only target the 2 or 3 conservatives who work for AP or who are independent journalists who contribute to AP.

The AP is on this for sure.

Why in the hell would the Holder Justice Dep’t do this? The AP is pretty much in bed and under the sheets with this administration.

Did not stop Stalin from marching tens of thousands of good, loyal Communists off to the gulags.

He agreed with us, but for all the wrong reasons

Let’s seeee....

1. Benghazi
2. Conservative organizations targeted by the IRS
3. Kathleen Sebelis raising money from regulated insurance companies
4. Fallen Navy SEALs insulted by gov’t-invited Islamic “cleric”
5. Fast and Furious (almost forgotten at the moment)
6. The “red-line” of chemical weapons crossed without an answer (this one will get lost, for sure)
7. Ignoring court orders about recess appointments (ditto)
8. AP phone records

I’m pretty sure I’m missing something. Time to call for new electio... oh wait, we don’t have a Prime Minister.

Next move...watch how fast congress passes a law to make this retroactively legal. Yes, yes, even though team red has the championship wrestling belt in the house of reps, it will get done. Why....? Because it’s a safe bet that at least the past two administrations did the same thing.
