James Carville: This is all over in 30 days By: Kevin Robillard May 16, 2013 11:57 AM EDT

Democratic strategist James Carville had some good news for President Barack Obama amid three controversies: It will all be over in a month.

Carville, who helped guide former President Bill Clinton through crises, on Thursday described Benghazi and the Justice Department’s decision to subpoena the Associated Press’ phone records as non-stories to start with and he predicted the IRS scandal would fizzle out within a month.

“These guys are awfully frustrated right now,” Carville said, referring to the GOP. “They’re taking the anger out, and I understand that. I think the White House has just go to live with this for 30 days, get the truth out and you know, just roll with the punches here. They’re down to swinging pretty wildly here.”

The Ragin’ Cajun said Republicans were focused on the IRS scandal because many of their political positions are being undercut by long-term trends.

“That’s what they’re down to,” Carville said. “Remember that the earth is warming, and that the economy is growing, the deficit is shrinking, that health care costs are flattening out, that Benghazi was nothing and as I said, there may be something amiss in the Cincinnati office of the IRS. If there is, we should find out about it and fix it and if somebody did something wrong, they should be fired or brought to justice.”

Agree the MSM has to save the party to save Hillary and win the 20014 and 2016 elections.

In the end he will probably get away with it.
But this isn’t going away any time soon.

The steady drip-drip-drip of audit victims will continue.
The MSM can never be sure who’s phone is being tapped now.
Clinton’s Monica dalliance (which pales in comparison to some of this stuff) dragged on for years.

The best we can hope for is that these scandals contribute to an incremental increase of general distrust in the government.

And even then only a segment of the population will be affected. The other half, the takers, will never feel anything but love for those who sign their checks & will defend them to the death.

I don’t think it will take a month. It will probably be a faint memory by the end of May.

You stole those words from MY keyboard.....

"The MSM can never be sure who’s phone is being tapped now."

Excellent point. Let's keep reminding them of this, by twitter and all other means.

If we’re willing to let him be right, then we deserve everything we get. A snake is a snake; can’t blame a snake for being what it is. The person to blame is he who lets the boa constrictor play with his baby in the crib and watches silently with his thumb in his nose while the snake squeezes the life out of the child.

If we are willing to watch these boas kill our baby without rising up to defend her, then we deserve a dead baby. Period.

If we subpoena the documents that the WH has refused to provide, which are NOT classified, they’re going to be dealing with more than 30 days worth of this.

Go ahead and subpoena, the documents will be found in two or three years, they must have fallen down behind the filing cabinet or the janitor moved them to clean or something like that

I remember Trent Lott being one of the first republicans I hated after what he did on convicting Bill Clinton.

I thought he was an aberration at the time, but no, he is what the GOP is.

Outside of Ronald Reagan, a former democrat, I can think of no republican that I admire, except perhaps for Cruz, but it’s too early to tell with him yet.

He who is the most committed wins. I am. I encourage conservatives to be, too.

I am. I don't have any faith in our so-called Pubbie *leadership*, though. They've been handed so many things on a silver platter, and always seem to walk away :(

The day the SEnate did not move to try Clinton, this nation was lost, or at least set on a path that can only lead to chaos down the road. and here we are.

Agree. Carville has been right more than he’s been wrong. He will be right in this case as well. The media will fall in line.

I heard a lady call Hannity yesterday, she said why should she be concerned if the IRS goes after republicans, he said if they can take my freedom they can take yours too. She said it doesn’t matter because they will take his first.

I do not know how a free country produced people such as this, but the fact is that it produced a huge number of them.

Perhaps the country that this type of people end up in will produce freedom loving people in the future, but I must say she made me sick.

Not wishful thinking at all. Here's what Carcille knows: none of these scandals will get the attention of the low information Obama voters, and they outnumber us.

The media caters to the low information voters. The media will make sure these scandals don't get legs, and will make sure the stories fizzle out in a week. If not, then something else will come along to knock these scandals off the front pages and off the airwaves.

. In our low information / attention deficit disorder society, no way these scandals get and hold the attention of the media or low information voters, that's what Carville knows. Sadly, I think he's right.

That - and Amnesty - which will probably pass in the House, and give Democrats a political majority for generations.

Thanks to McCain, Graham, and their "Forrest Gump", Rubio.
