The New Mexico Republican Party said Wednesday that Sen. Tom Udall was among Democratic senators who wrote a letter to the Internal Revenue Service asking it to target conservative groups, but a Udall spokeswoman said the letter was aimed at potential misuse of nonprofit tax status by all political organizations.
Marissa Padilla, Udalls spokeswoman, said the letter asked the IRS to scrutinize all social welfare agencies to ensure they werent breaking laws that bar them from substantial political activity. It also proposed new IRS rules, such as capping political spending by such groups.
Udall on Monday denounced the IRS for specifically targeting conservative groups.
John Billingsley, chairman of the Republican Party of New Mexico, said ... The IRS infringement on the First Amendment rights of certain groups is abhorrent, but what is even more disturbing is the fact that our own Sen. Tom Udall encouraged such infringement, Billingsley said.

“Udall, a liberal enviro-radical, is up for re-election in 2014.”
And as such is a pedigreed serial liar.
Lie
Lie
Lie
Send them all to prison.
misuse: Thwarting advancement of leftist power or opposing Obama's re-election
See? It's all in the definitions.
They were discussing this on 770 this AM and folks were pretty steamed. The question is who do we have to run against him? I don’t want to lose Pearce in District 2.
Could this put NM in play for the mid-term? Udall signed on to this letter and it’s very clear what it says. He is complicit in this scandal.
BUMP
Tom Udall is a perfect liar, and thus a perfect Democrat. Who in New Mexico can beat him?
Show us the letter.
Steve got burned running against him in 2008 and we lost a vote that might have stopped the Obama agenda. So I think he'll stay where he is. And I don't expect Heather to try again; she's got "loser" on her back now. So the answer to your question is that I have no answer.
Yep, before any IRS employee pays a price these Senator scum buckets who pressured them should be wearing orange jumpsuits.
Heather’s now some college president in South Dakota, her NM days are over.
I hope John Sanchez doesn’t think he can do the job, he’d get trounced.
And so is his brother, Mark Udall, in Colorado
